P R O D U C T I O NCanon EOS 600D• Using this camera tocapture the majority of ourshots enabled us to film inFull HD (1080p).

• I learnt about ISO andshutter speed, and how theycan be changed to alter thelighting and quality of a shot,as well as how to use autoand manual focus.

I also learnt about using a tripod to create stable shots, and how to use a Rode VideoMic tocapture diegetic sound whilst filming; we also used this type of microphone in post-production,to record foley.

GoPro/iPad Lighting• Some of our shots werefilmed with a GoPro Hero 3,connected via bluetooth toan iPad – an idea which wasnew to me.

• I also learnt how to use theiPad to control a computer,again via bluetooth.

• At the first shoot, we used aYongnuo YN 300 LED light toilluminate the actor's face.However, this resulted in anobvious unnatural light.

• This taught us that it isdifficult to make artificial lightappear natural, and so wedecided to film at a lighterlocation.

• Whilst Connor did the majority of the editingof our piece, I contributed by adjusting someof the shot lengths, and importing new shots.

• I was taught about how to apply effects, suchas colour correction and stabilisation.

• Furthermore, I learnt about three-dimensional modelling, i.e. how After Effectscan be used to create things such as filmidents.

• Although I was already confident with usingCubase, producing the soundtrack for our filmwas a good experience as it introduced me tousing Cubase's video feature, which allows meto view the video as I edited the sound, inorder to match the film's editing pace, andmake the sound more synchronous.

• I also learnt about creating foley; I made aheartbeat sound, and the three thuds heard atthe end of the sequence, using VSTs such asHalion Sonic and Prologue.

W E B S I T E S – 1This is by far the area in which my knowledgeof technology improved the most. I have usedan array of sites to design and present piecesof my work, and I am still actively searchingfor more innovative ways of using them.

Wix.comWix's intuitive format has helped me to develop my understanding of conceptssuch as widgets, embedding, blogging, and website design.

It has acted as the hub for documenting my progression through the G321 unit,allowing me to incorporate ideas such as integrating applications, e.g.Instagram and Soundcloud.

I have integrated elements from websites such as Tagul.com, an interactiveword cloud generator, and readwritethink.org's timeline creator, as well asWix's own apps, which include a poll creator, and interactive maps.Furthermore, I have formatted each element on my website in a lot of detail,e.g. the use of anchors on the preliminary page, and a tag system in the blog,showing that I have fully utilised Wix's potential.

• I improved my ability toresearch, and have begun touse resources such asmovieguide.org,pearlanddean.com, andBEI.org, as well as continuingto use imdb.com.

• I learnt how to usescribd.com to embed files inorder to present them moreeasily on Wix.• I have used sites such astagul.com, prezi.com, andbubbl.us to present myideas.

In addition to the obvious websites, e.g. googlefor research and pictures, facebook/skype forcommunication within our group, I have usedsome more obscure sites, such asfreebackgroundremoval.com, and bubbl.us.
