Question 4
4. How did you use new media technologies in the construction ,
research and planning and evaluation stages?
The main software used for developing our music video.- Razor Tool = To chop and cut clips in our
editing sequence at will.- Video Transitions = Dip to Black/ Cross
Dissolve (i.e. for montages/continuity).- Chroma Key = for the editing of green
screen footage.- Time Re-mapping = adjusting speed of
footage to lip-synch with music audio.- Widescreen = Crop, then adjust ratio to
16:9 to increase quality.- Title Sequences = Addition of text to
create our cinema verite effect.- Hue and Saturation = To increase quality
and lighting of filmed footage. - Project Manager = Keep all our files
together to allow for swift editing with no hiccups.
- Capture = Capturing footage filmed in our video camera and transporting it to Premiere.
Adobe Premiere Pro CS3
The main piece of software used to develop our ancillary tasks.- Blending Options = Outer Glow,
Stroke, Bevel and Emboss created outlines, made them stand out and look professional.
- Magnetic Lasso = To cut and crop around images so they were easy to move on to any background. They looked smoother this way as well.
- Crop = Refine images such as our ‘The Music Factory’ Logo.
- Grey scale = added to images for black and white effect.
- Layers = to separate each piece of the image I was working on.
Adobe Photoshop CS5
The first initial websites we turned to look for an artist to use for our music video. These are popular websites that unsigned artists sign up to in order and gain recognition. These sites were perfect as we were able to select the genre of artist we wanted. This helped us cater to our target audience and choose an artist according to our results.

- My Question 1 (Evaluation)
- Uploading the actual music video (Construction)

Microsoft word was used to type up my questionnaire and check for any spelling mistakes. Microsoft Excel was used to record my results from the questionnaire in a bar graph and present the data I had collected visually.

Blogger (Blogspot) was used as a presentational device to display our production in it’s process to it’s entirety. We were able to upload embedded links from YouTube, screen shot images of work in progress and also audio clips of recorded audience feedback. All our coursework was stored digitally on this site therefore we could always refer back to it and it always remained safe.

The main pieces of hardware for recording our footage along the course of the production. - Digi-cam = for documenting settings
and mise-en-scene worthy to be used in the music video. Also used to photograph our performers for the ancillaries. (Construction)
- Video camera = to record decent footage for the music video. (Construction)
- Tripod = was used so that the footage we were recording was not shaky and ‘hand-held looking’. This was in order to keep our music video looking professional.
- Camera Angles = We were able to experiment with different camera angles to allow for more diverse footage and images. In some case two cameras at the same time recording the same footage from different angles so would easily cut to the two clips in the video and keep the continuity running.
Video (Camera)/Tripod
- Chroma Key = came in handy as it
allowed for the erasing of the actual green screen so that the footage could be edited in all sorts of ways i.e. Silhouette effect .
- Roughen Edges = to ironically smoothen the edges of our green screen footage
- Mask = to mask the identity of our green screen dancers and turn them into the silhouette effect.
- Strobe Light (additional) = used on certain green screen performances to show a constant change in colour to the silhouette, in our case from red to white.
- .JPEG image of black/white = placed under green screen footage so that when Chroma key erased the green of the green screen you would see an either white background or a black background. Perfect to show the consistency of our production.
