  • 1. How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

2. Construction and Research, Planning and Evaluation - Edublogs Throughout the whole process of my product I used Edublogs to post all my information I used throughout the construction, research, planning and evaluation stages of my product. I found Edublogs quite confusing at first to use however once I got the hang of it I was able to navigate round it without any trouble. On Edublogs you are able to change the layout and themes as well as adding images and videos to change the appearance of my work. 3. Research - Internet When researching for similar products I used the internet. The internet gave me the access to visit other media technologies online to help me with my production process. I also used the internet to find out key information about important codes and conventions I should follow throughout the constructions of my products. 4. Research - Google Another media technology which I used very often was google. I used google to help me find the specific information of facts about the range of genres, to see the precise codes and conventions I will have to use when making my main product and ancillary texts. I also used Google images to look at other real media products when researching for my ancillary products. Google also helped me to find a tutorial on YouTube about how to edit my footage into reverse on Adobe Premier Pro, as I was unaware how to do this. From using google this helped me to develop my knowledge on how to use the software. 5. Research - Youtube Another media technology I used was YouTube. This gave me the access to view other short films in various genres to produce textual analysiss when deciding on my storyline. YouTube also helped me to find other reverse narratives, which helped me to produce ideas to help me with the shots I used for my product. 6. Research, Planning and Evaluation - Vimeo Vimeo is another media technology I used in the research, planning and evaluation process of my main product and ancillary tasks. I used Vimeo to upload my footage onto the web so that I can access and view it from my blog when leaving the link. I found Vimeo easy to use as I was able to upload my videos and focus groups without any trouble. 7. Construction Adobe Premier Pro I used Adobe Premier Pro throughout the construction of my product. I find the software easy to use and I feel I have progressed in my ability of using it since last year. Premier Pro lets me cuts me cut shots and position them where I wish. Throughout the making of my short film, I gained new skills on the software which I had never been aware of before; an example of this is reversing the shots, which is a main editing technique I had to learn and use for my product. I used test shots to practise the use of this effect for me to then feel confident in editing my final product. I am very happy with what I was able to achieve as I was worried continuity would become a problem if it did not go well. However I was very happy with my end outcome. I also used Adobe Premier Pro to edit the footage I received from my focus groups, using Premier Pro let me insert titles and edit the footage with key frames to make sure sound was appropriate. Adding in effects such as Additive Dissolve at the beginning and end of the focus group help me to achieve a more professional technique on my products. 8. Construction Adobe Photoshop I used Adobe Photoshop during the construction stages of my ancillary tasks. I felt using this software would be the best option due to all the tools you are able to access, for example being able to separate an image from its background. I was able to construct my final film poster and magazine film review fully on this software by using the correct conventions of each product. I found using Photoshop very hard to navigate as I found it very confusing and did not understand the small symbolic symbols. However I was able to learn and develop my skills of Photoshop through the construction of my ancillary tasks. 9. Construction - Instagram Instagram is a very popular social networking site which enables users to take pictures and videos and apply digital filters to them and upload to other various social networks. The app is used by over 100 million active users everyday. As I am a regular user of this site, this enabled me to use the digital filters to edit the background image of my chosen film poster design. I narrowed the image of the tunnel down to three filters which I thought would create the best effect for my film poster; these were Hefe, Lo-Fi and X-Pro 11. After setting up a focus group I decided to use the filter Hefe. 10. Construction - Soundcloud Soundcloud is another media technology which I used through the construction of my main product. As I had my piece of backing music especially composed for me by a friend, he downloaded it onto Soundcloud for me to access. However I thought Soundcloud was very complicated to use as it gave no clear icon on how to navigate the site. 11. Research and Evaluation - Slideshare I used Slideshare to download PowerPoints I had created on Microsoft PowerPoint when researching into Brand Identity and research of my ancillary tasks. I will also use Slideshare throughout my evaluation as I feel the media technology is easy to navigate and presents my information clearly.
