Question 3 - What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

Distribution Company0 A film distributor is the company responsible for

marketing the film.0 The distributing company can decide the release date

and how the film will be distributed to its audience.

0 A previous task for our coursework was to decide a suitable company to distribute the film we had to think of a protagonist character for.

0 In order to do this, I did research on the companies that distributed the most films from the murder mystery genre.

0 I decided that the best distribution company for my media product would be paramount.

Paramount0Paramount is a TV and film production company.0 It is ranked as one of the largest film studios.

0Paramount has distributed successful murder mystery films such as ‘The Canary Murder Case’ and ‘Clue’.

0Paramount is also highly recognised for distributing extremely successful films such as ‘Paranormal Activity’ and ‘The Lovely Bones’ which although are not categorised as being from the murder mystery genre, share some of the same elements.

ParamountI think Paramount Pictures would be the ideal company to distribute our media product as they are among the top 5 biggest distribution companies with many different divisions that would aid distribution. Paramount have also made the second most crime and thriller films so would be able to distribute my film to a large and successful scale like they have done with the many other films they have distributed.Also, there are no recent murder mystery films made by Paramount so there is a gap in the market for our film.
