What kind of media institutionmight distribute your product

and why?

Page 2: Question 3

One institution that might distribute our product is Working Title because they are a converged production company in association with Universal.

They would produce our product because it is a small scale horror film which would mean it would cost them less money however they may get a lot of profit from our film opening, if it was to their standards and expertise.

Working Title prefer working with new talent as it makes their company reach a wider audience bringing more money and profit to their projects. In our project we use younger actors and actresses in order to make younger audiences able to relate to the project.

Submarine is an film produced by Warp Films and Film4, meaning that it is for smaller releases and smaller companies and film organisations for example Red Hour productions.

These types of institutions and productions aim at the niche audience which we also aimed for as we thought that not many mainstream, or other youth cultures, like gang members, would enjoy watching our project.

Warp Films is on a smaller scale to Working Title however still gets into cinemas and on screens for people to watch. Our project would benefit from having organisations like Warp Films to distribute it, as our project fits into their category of releasing small budgeted films.

So as we didn’t spend any money in the making of our opening there would be no huge loss for Warp Films or Film 4 if our project wasn’t successful.

The Hunt for Gollum is another example of how, and who, might distribute our project. This was a ‘micro-budget’ film which used a small budget of only £3,000.

They distributed this film through the internet via social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter, and other well known sites such as YouTube.

They also distributed through an organisation called Independent Online Cinema which is a none profit website allowing people to watch their production for nothing, this is another way we could use to promote our project and get it noticed.

People aged 16-28 are more likely to use the internet and social networking sites which suggests that our opening scene would be more relevant to this particular age group as they will be able to notice it easier from these types of websites, like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
