What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and

why?

Paramount Pictures.

Paramount may be a good choice of a possible distributer as they have distributed similar media products such as Marvel films. Therefore I think that Paramount would be good because they promoted and distributed for Marvel films which have similarities such as the characters, genre and storyline of our film. Therefore they have promoted and distributed products like ours before so they have the experience and capability to do it.

Paramount we also able to promote films such as Star Trek into darkness and World War Z which also belong to the Sci-Fi genre. Therefore they have had success from genres such as ours in the past.Because they have worked with films like our before they are more likely to understand the influences behind the film so they are less likely to want to change parts of our film during the distribution.

However because Paramount is a mainstream company it is likely that they will want to make changes to the film as they may think that the original idea needs a little change in order to attract a wider audience as mainstream companies are less likely to distribute a film for a specific niche audience as they normally go for ideas that a wider audience would enjoy to that they are able o make more sales.

Therefore an independent film studio such as studio canal may be better at distributing our film as they have a good reputation for distributing Sci-Fi films. Also independent studios are easier to get a contract with as you as a producer are paying to create the film that you have written. This means that they can’t interfere with the storyline of the film as it will be already paid for to be made and it is your own project.

Studio canal also have a base in England as well as a few other countries such as Australia so they would be easy to get to and are able o distribute to a variety of countries. Because they have a base in England it would be easier to communicate with the distributor so they’d know exactly what we wanted from our film.

However independent film studies are often a low budget so they won’t be able to offer you a wide range of things such as special effects which would be needed for Yuri’s hands and also they wouldn’t be able to distribute the product in as many forms as a mainstream company e.g. a mainstream company such as paramount would be able to distribute their film IMAX cinemas as well as normal cinemas they would also be able to offer Blu-ray rather than just DVD’s so both independent and mainstream distributers have their positives and negatives.
