I wanted to make sure my product was like existing media products so throughout the planning process I wanted to really look into them. Because of this I was able to compare it with my work making sure it was similar and successful like existing products making sure my soap is conformed to the codes and conventions of melodrama.

1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge

forms and conventions of real media products?

Here we can see by the ident and the information that I have looked into Hollyoaks a lot. The issues expressed in my product are inspired by Hollyoaks and the overall brand identity is like Hollyoaks. By having this it looks professional and it Challenges the forms and conventions of real media products.

The end extreme long shot of Ruby walking through the graveyard crying was also inspired by Hollyoaks, I developed the storyline myself but at the end of every Hollyoaks trailer it slows down with slow music and comes to a conclusion. In this part of my media product this scene concludes the whole trailer, the music slows down, there is echoing sound effects over the top and ruby is crying showing ruby has broke down. This challenges the codes and conventions of a existing media product

As my soap is a melodrama, this means that it is important to reflect of everyday life.

Everyday classroom situation, two friends sat together, getting on with their school/ college work.

My product is dramatic to highlight the dramatic storylines in the trailer I use music that highlights the storyboard and make it look even more dramatic. This is always used in Hollyoaks as the storylines are all extremely dramatic and the music does highlight them. I think the music I have used hooks the audience and works effectively in my product.

Everyday busy college corridor, what characters in the programme would see

Brand Identity – for the audience to identity the soap, colours font size and other features makes the leavers identdifferent to a Hollyoaks or Skins Ident.

The storylines conform to the melodrama genre -alcohol-friendships-relationships-cheating -lies -drugs

The music, editing and added title sequnecesshow that this media product is a advert for an up and coming programme. Other adverts for Hollyoaks and skins have these conventions in their adverts.

Throughout the media product not just one story is covered, many stories are covered, mainly to introduce new storylines, which is always seen in other media products.
