Audience of Project:

The QUEST PLAYAWAY project affected all classrooms. It included a broad collection of PLAYAWAY books for the entire population. The units were utilized by classroom teachers, Specialists, and students.

They were highly circulated!!

Rationale for Project:

So often, reluctant readers are left behind. Once they have struggled with decoding and comprehension, they become reluctant to read. Often these students choose to be non-readers versus being seen reading “little kid” books.

Traditionally, we would hand out tape recorders, bulky headphones and a series of cassettes singling out the student.

Playaway is a terrific improvement in technology!

PLAYAWAY FEATURES:

-simple dedicated audio media player

- discrete, practical, easy to use and sturdy option

-use clearly marked buttons giving the option of placing digital bookmarks

-User can control the speed of a narrator’s voice

-Can move both forward and back through audio selections that can range from 6 to 24 hours
