Queen's IEEE Student Project Competition Monday, 29 March 2010, at 6:00pm Walter Light Hall (WLH), Room 302, Queen's University Open to All Queen's Undergraduate Students Queen's IEEE Student Project Competition, sponsored by IEEE Kingston Section and Queen's IEEE Student Branch, is held annually and is open to all Queen's undergraduate students to present the results of their design or research projects. The project work presented are often senior design projects. Eligibility: All Queen's undergraduate students. Abstract Submission: An executive abstract covering technical, engineering, management and applied aspects of the project is required. The submissions must be emailed to Prof. A. Afsahi ([email protected] ) by the submission deadline. ABSTRACT are due by 6:00PM, Thursday, 25 March 2010 Abstract Format: Each submission should consist of two pages: a cover page and a body page. Cover page: The cover page should bear the title of the project, the name and email addresses of the team members, and the name(s) of the faculty supervisor(s). Body page: The body page should include the project title and a single-page single-column executive summary of the project in 11pt Times New Roman font . The body page must be anonymous; therefore, no student or supervisor name is allowed on the body page. Competition (Round I, Abstracts): A panel of three independent judges will carefully review anonymous abstracts (the cover page will be removed). Based on the rankings provided by the judges, 6 finalists will be selected for the oral presentation in round II of the competition. Round I decision will be announced by Friday, 26 March 2010 Competition (Round II, Oral Presentations): Teams that advance to round II will make oral presentations of their projects to the three judges on Monday, March 29th from 6:00 - 8:00pm in WLH-302. The presentations should take no more than 15 minutes, followed by a 5-minute question period. Awards: 1 st Prize - $150 2 nd Prize - $75 3 rd Prize - $50 The best presented paper (1st place winner) will automatically enter the 2010 IEEE Eastern Ontario Student Oral Papers Competition. This is a competition held annually between the best projects from Queen's University, The Royal Military College of Canada, University of Ottawa, Carleton University, and Algonquin College. This year the competition will be held at the University of Ottawa on Tuesday, March 30, 2010, from 7:00 - 10:00pm. The five participating teams will present their projects, similar to their local competition project presentations. A total of $600 is awarded in cash prizes.
