6th of July!!

Only a few days

left to go!

Sports Day!!

Our School Council visited City Hall to find out about the Mayor's role and the running of London. We were treated to a fantastic presentation and a tour of the building and we had

lunch by the River Thames !

Year 2 have been learning about money in a real life context by setting up their own market stalls. In D&T, the children made products out of recycled materials to sell at their stalls as well as purses and currency. In numera-cy, the children learnt how to give change, decimal notations, and how to make amounts using differ-ent coins. In literacy, the children made persuasive posters to advertise their prod-ucts and stalls.

Schools from all over the borough com-peted to win a slot in the HLT RE calen-dar which was planned as a celebration of beliefs, values and religious ceremo-nies through art. Here are our two win-

ners!

will also be making an appearance.

The event is for everyone, cyclists and non-cyclists alike!

Jaya’s recount Madrid 2016 trip: Firstly we had to wake up really early on Monday morn-

ing because we were meeting up at school at 7am. When I

got to school all my friends were there, they all had suit-

cases ready for the journey we were all really excited. At

7.30 we said goodbye to our parents and got on to the

coach. The trip to the airport took about 1 hour and

45mins and when we got to the south terminal we took a

selfie. The plane journey was very bumpy and during the

journey I played hang man with my friends to keep my-

self busy.

When we landed in Spain we all wanted to get out of the plane to feel the hot weather. It was about 30 degrees

and we were all hopping around with excitement. We strolled to the metro where we bought our metro tickets,

it was rush hour when we got on, so we all had to squeeze into the carriage together. The train journey was

quite long and when we got to our apartment we all settled in and made our rooms tidy. Our apartment felt

like home but with your friends, it had a kitchen a dining room and a living room.

In Spain they eat their dinner really late so we had our dinner at about 8:30 because the restaurants didn’t

open until then. The place we went to dinner on the first night was called ‘Loretto’ and we had Pizzas and

Burgers.

Breakfasts were really good we had fresh fruit, juices and doughnuts, sometimes we had muffins; For the

next two days we went to Spanish School. It was different to our school because their school only went up to

Year 2; the similarity was that they had Dojos like us. At lunch time they sat down and the cook served

them, they did dancing after lunch in the lunch hall!

The highlight of the trip for me was the Bernabeu football stadium; we went for a tour and we got to sit in

the VIP seats and see the changing rooms. We also went rowing in a boating lake in Retiro Park, in my

group was Ms Bailey, Rozi and Julia, we weren’t very good because Ms Bailey hadn’t rowed for a long time,

she got better after a while though!

During school time we played ‘bat the Jamon’ the teacher would throw a 3D shape at the Jamon and you

would try to hit it. Scott had a go at hitting it he was really good! When we left Spain some of us were cry-

ing because we didn’t want to go home!
