Soon the Holidays will be upon us and another year will have gone. Time flies and the older one gets the faster it goes. I’ve been thinking about that a lot this year. Succession planning is something that the Chapter has to do every elected term. However, in our private lives we need to provide for succession planning also. I’m talking about planning for your future and the future of your children and/or grandchildren. At the beginning of next year the laws on inheritance will be changing again and not for the benefit of the middle class. I have finally, after years of “thinking about it” taken the plunge and started the ball rolling to ensure that whatever I have left (after all my vacations and cruises) will be there for my children and not go to the benefit of New York State. It is a difficult thing to think about one’s mortality but it is necessary for the seamless flow from generation to generation. I know that some of you are way ahead of me and have put all your ducks in a row and have all your planning worked out. The Chapter has had a few speakers over the years to teach us about that. I encourage those of you, like me, who would rather put off until tomorrow to do it now!!! Dear Members,

The weather is finally getting cooler and the leaves have turned their colors.

The laws are changing and we will not benefit from the change.

Your heirs will thank you for thinking of them now rather than have them jump through hoops in the courts.

On another note, I would like to encourage you all to participate in our Gift Card fund raiser. We have had very good results with this program and hope to continue with it in the future.
