Dear Friends, Apologies for a somewhat belated Newsletter but we now have gathered a considerable number of ideas to look forward to at the Arts Centre. The “Friends of the Arts Centre Membership Card”, produced by David Thornley, is proving to be a great success. This card offers members discounts on products and services in and about the Arts Centre and the number of discounts available is increasing. Please see page two for details. Discounts are advertised in our Quarterly Newsletter and on our website. The Friends of the Arts Centre are working towards the concept of conducted tours around the Arts Centre, possibly beginning later this year, to give visitors the opportunity to experience the Arts Centre in an interesting and informative way. We shall keep you up to date with our progress though our next newsletter. The fundraising dinner, mentioned in or last Newsletter is on hold at this stage. We are also looking to increase the size of the executive. If you, or any of your friends would be interested in being coopted to the executive, please do not hesitate to contact us. Finally, a huge congratulation to our treasurer Peter Morrison. He was awarded an MNZM at the recent Queens Birthday Honours. Peter is the host/operator of the Classic Villa, a boutique hotel opposite the Arts Centre. He supports and promotes New Zealand’s hospitality and tourism industry both locally and internationally. Peter is a life member of the Canterbury Hospitality Association and National Treasurer and Board member of Hospitality New Zealand, having been a member since 1986 and President since 2005. Again, congratulations Peter.
