Swachch Bharat Activities 1. Swachchtha App Downloading Campaign
The NSS units of Srimad Andavan Arts & Science College, Trichy in
association with the Tiruchirappalli City Corporation organised the
Swachhtha Android App downloading campaign for the college students in
the college campus. Mr. Migavel Gnanadeepam, Joint Commissioner of the
Tiruchirappalli City Corporation explained the usage of the app and he
showed a demo to the students. Around 300 NSS Volunteers participated in
the programme.

2. Thiruvanaikoil Temple Premises Cleaning
3. Cleaning the College Campus
4. Survey on Clean City by Cauvery College for Women, Trichy
A survey was conducted to know about the awareness of Swacchata
theme in the 57th ward of the Tiruchirappalli City Corporation on
18.01.2018 & 19.01.2018. The NSS Units and Tiruchirapplli Corporation
Members jointly organised the programme. About 100 volunteers divided

themselves into sub groups and went into the streets, lane by lane of the
57th ward of Tiruchirappalli city and took survey about clean city feedback.
Assistant commissioner of the Tiruchirappali City Corporation, Mr.
Prabaharan administered the programme.
5. College Cleaning by ARC Visvanathan College, Mayiladuthurai
The NSS units of ARC Visvanathan College, Mayiladuthurai organised
a cleaning camp in the college campus as part of the Clean India drive.
6. Adopted Village cleaning by Aiman College of Arts & Science for
Women, Trichy The NSS Volunteers of Aiman College of Arts & Science for Women,
Trichy conducted a cleaning campaign in their adopted village, Ponnampatti.
The Volunteers cleaned the plastic carry bags, unwanted wastes, etc. The
Volunteers also sown palm seeds in the village.

7. Arputha College of Arts & Science, Pudukkottai
The NSS Volunteers of Arputha College of Arts & Science, Pudukkottai
cleaned the College campus and the adopted village, Kovilur as part of the
Swachh Bharat Abhiyan activities.
8. College Campus Cleaning by BDU Model College, Vedaranyam
The NSS unit of Bharathidasan University Model College, Vedaranyam
conducted a cleaning campaign in the college campus. All the NSS
Volunteers of the college under the guidance of the Programme Officer, Dr.
T. Raja cleaned the campus on 04.02.2018.

9. Swachh Survekshan- 2018
Field Publicity office and Ministry of Information and Broadcasting
jointly organised the Swachh Survekshan 2018 Awareness programme on
28th February, 2018 at Devar Hall, Trichy. More than 500 NSS Volunteers of
various colleges actively participated in the rally in creating awareness
among the public followed by awareness programme with excellent talk by
Mr. N. Ravichandran, City Corporation Commissioner regarding the Swachh
Bharath Mission. More than 100 NSS Volunteers along with NSS
Programme officers, Dr. M. Neela and Ms. N. Sathammai Priya took part in
the programme. The commissioner felicitated the college NSS programme

officers for extending their contribution in familiarizing Swachh Survekshan
2018 among residents.

10. College Campus cleaning by Kalaimahal College of Arts & Science, Sembanarkoil
The NSS units of Kalaimahal College of Arts & Science, Sembanarkoil,
Nagapattinam district organised a cleaning camp in the college campus.
The NSS volunteers under the guidance of the programme officers cleaned
the college premises as part of the Swachh Bharat campaign.
NSS Orientation Programme
The NSS Cell of Bharathidasan University in association with the
Empanelled Training Institute for NSS, Madras School of Social Work,
Chennai conducted the 7-days Orientation Programme for the untrained
NSS Programme Officers of Bharathidasan University from 04th to
10th January 2018 in the University campus. Total of 69 NSS Programme
Officers participated in the orientation programme in which 1 programme
officer from SCERT and another 2 Programme officers from DOTE,
remaining were from Bharathidasan University.
National Youth Day
The NSS unit of Bharathidasan University Constituent College,
Thiruthuraipoondi organised the National Youth Day Programme on
22.01.2018. Dr. K. Kannai welcomed the gathering, Dr. P. Gowthaman,
Principal of the college presided over the programme. Mr. V. Dharmadass,
Postal Superintendent, Thiruvarur circle was the chief guest for the
programme. Dr. K. Thilagar, NSS Programme Officer proposed the vote of
thanks.

National Voter’s Day Pledge
Road Safety Awareness Programme at Govt. Arts College, Ariyalur
The NSS unit of Govt. Arts College, Ariyalur in association with the
Ariyalur District Police organised an awareness programme on Road Safety
on 19.01.2018 for the NSS Volunteers. Dr. S. Sitrarasu, Principal of the
college presided over the programme. Sub Inspectors of Police (Traffic),
Ahmed Hussain, Selvakumar and Subha made awareness about the traffic
rules and road safety guidelines for the volunteers.
Road Safety Awareness Programme at Annai College of Arts & Science, Kumbakonam
The NSS units of Annai College of Arts & Science, Kumbakonam
organised a road safety awareness programme for the NSS Volunteers of the
college. Mr. Mahalingam, Sub Inspector of Police (Traffic), Kumbakonam
explained the road safety rules and importance of following traffic rules,
wearing helmet, seat belts, etc. Mr. Somasundaram, NSS Programme

Officer welcomed the gathering and another Programme Officer, Mr.
Surendran proposed the vote of thanks.
Women Welfare Awareness Rally
The NSS Volunteers of Annai Vailankanni Arts & Science College,
Thanjavur participated in the Rally along with students of Women’s cell on
Women Welfare Awareness on 20.01.2018 organised by the District Collector
Mr. Annadurai at Railway station, Thanjavur. Many students from various
colleges and schools attended the rally. The Rally Started at Railway
Junction and ended at Kunthavai Nachiyar Women’s College. The NSS
Volunteers carried Slogans and Banners of Women’s welfare and created
awareness to the public.
Menstrual Hygiene Management Awareness Programme at Dharmapuram Adhinam Arts College, Mayiladuthurai
The NSS Units of Dharmapuram Adhinam Arts College,
Mayiladuthurai organised an awareness programme on Menstrual Hygiene
Management on 23.01.2018 in the college campus. Head of the Department
of Social Work, B. Sophia spoke on the cleanliness during the Menstrual
days and taking nutritious food to lead a healthy life.

Menstrual Hygiene Management Awareness Programme at Kalaimahal
College of Arts & Science, Sembanarkoil The NSS units of Kalaimahal College of Arts & Science, Sembanarkoil
organised an awareness programme on Menstrual Hygiene Management for
the college girls. Mrs. M. Meera from the Commerce department was the
chief guest for the programme. She explained the importance of the
cleanliness during the menstrual days and taking nutritious food. She also
clarified the doubts raised by the girls during the interactive session.
Plastic Awareness Programme
The Tiruchirappalli City Corporation and Yuga trust organised an
awareness programme on avoiding plastic items and using degradable items
on 24.01.2018 in Thillai Nagar, Trichy. Mr. K. Rajamani, District Collector
was the chief guest for the programme. Cloth bags were distributed in lieu
of plastic carry bags to all the participants during the programme. The NSS
Volunteers from Srimad Andavan Arts & Science College and St. Joseph
College, Trichy participated in the programme.

Drugs Addiction Awareness Programme
The NSS Units of Cauvery College for Women, Trichy along with
Central Bureau of Narcotics organised an awareness programme on Drugs
addiction. The Principal of the college, Dr. V. Sujatha felicitated the
gathering. The chief guest, Dr. A. Venkadesh Babu, I.R.S, Assistant
Narcotics Commissioner, Central Bureau of Narcotics, Chennai, has
delivered an eye opening speech about the complete effects of drugs and its
addiction. More than 1000 NSS Volunteers along with NSS Programme
officers has enriched in this session.

Consumer Protection Awareness Programme
The NSS unit of Uswathun Hasana Mamanji Haji Abdul Latheef
Women’s College, Karur organised an awareness programme on Consumer
Protection. Principal of the college, Dr. K.A. Mumtaj Begum gave the
welcome address. National Best Teacher Awardee, Mr. A. Asia Begum
rendered a speech on how one should be aware of buying goods, followed by
a skit with Vote of Thanks by Asst. Professor, R. Rahumath Kani.
Dental Camp
The NSS units of Sri Saradha College for Women, Perambalur
conducted a dental camp for the college students on 29.01.2018. Dr. M.
Sivasubramaniam, Chairman and M.S. Vivekanandan, Secretary of the
college inaugurated the camp in the presence of the Principal, Dr. M.
Subalakshmi. Dr. Sivakumar, Dentist and his team from Dhanalakshmi
Srinivasan Medical College Hospital, Perambalur conducted the camp.
Around 2000 students and the professors of the college benefitted from the

camp. NSS Programme Officers, S. Bhuvana and M. Divya organised the
camp.
Martyrs Day
“Martyrs Day” is observed to pay homage to the victims who fought for
freedom, welfare and progress of India. Martyrs day was observed in the
Cauvery College for Women, Trichy on 30.01.2018. Silence was observed for
two minutes as a mark of respect to freedom fighters, who had made
supreme sacrifice in the cause of nation’s freedom. The observance was
presided over by principal Dr.Mrs.V.Sujatha. After the silence observance
the pledge was took by the students. NSS Programme officers coordinated
the programme.
Legal Services Awareness Programme
Trichirappalli District Legal Services authority organised an awareness
programme on free legal services and Government programmes
acknowledgement on 30.01.2018 at Thillai nagar Makkal Mandram. 100
NSS Volunteers along with NSS programme officers of Cauvery College for
Women, Trichy gets enriched with the programme.

Exhibition of Handloom Products made by Blind Women
The NSS units of Cauvery College for Women, Trichy and
Rehabilitation Centre for Blind women organised a one day exhibition of
handloom products made by the blind women of rehabilitation centre on
7th February 2018 in the college premises. The college principal
Dr. V. Sujatha inaugurated the stall. NSS Programme officers Dr. M. Neela,
Ms. N. Sathammaipriya and Dr. Metilda Bhuvaneshwari made the
arrangements for the programme.
One Day Seminar on Women Empowerment
The NSS units of Bishop Heber College, Trichy, conducted a one day
seminar on “Women Empowerment” on 23.02.2018. Dr. S. Rohaiyaah,
Gynaecologist, Fathima Hospital, Trichy and Ms. Salma, Writer were the
chief guests for the inaugural and valedictory programmes respectively. The
Principal, Dr. Paul Dhayabaran presided over the valedictory function and
Dr. Ally Sornam, Dean, Staff and Student Welfare, Bishop Heber College

presided over the inaugural functions. Dr. Nirmala Krishnakumar,
Translator, Dr. A. Lakshmi Prabha, NSS Co-ordinator, Bharathidasan
University, Trichy and Dr. C. Dhanabal, Dean, Extension Activities, Bishop
Heber College offered felicitations. Ms. P. Kajol, Transwoman entrepreneur
was given a certificate of appreciation. Nearly, 400 students including NSS
volunteers from various colleges participated in the seminar. Dr. A.
Josephine Prabha, NSS Programme officer welcomed the gathering and Ms.
S. Mohana Priya, NSS Programme officer thanked the gathering.
There were 8 technical sessions focussing on health, differently abled,
safety. Legal affairs, media, inner healing, community development and
entrepreneurship by renowned speakers from various sectors namely
doctors, academicians, lawyers, politicians, police woman, media persons,
social activist and entrepreneur. There were cultural and documentary on
women empowerment.
Two Days State Level Leadership Training Camp
The NSS units of Pachaiyappa’s College, Chennai organised a two
days State level Leadership Training Camp on 03rd & 04th March 2018 in the
college campus. Six Volunteers (3 male & 3 female) from Bharathidasan
University participated in the camp.

Two-Day Workshop on “Making of Low Cost Sanitary Napkins”
The NSS WISH (Women Involved in Sanitation & Hygiene) forum of
Bharathidasan University organised a two days Workshop on Making of Low
Cost Sanitary Napkins for the college girls on 15.03.2018 & 16.03.2018 in
the university campus. Dr. N.D. Parimala Devi, M.D., D.G.O. (OG), former
Dean, Govt. Medical College, Pudukkottai was the chief guest for the
inauguration programme. She spoke about the importance of using
Sanitary Napkins during Menstrual days. She also insisted that using non-
hygienic napkins will lead to cancer. Dr. N.D. Srinithi Vihahshini, NCC
Officer and Assistant Professor, Department of Environmental Management
welcomed the gathering. Dr. A. Lakshmi Prabha, Organising Secretary of
WISH and NSS Programme Coordinator proposed the Vote of Thanks.
Mrs. S. Thilagavathi and her team of trainers from Sree Alagar
Enderprises, Trichy trained the girls with 4 different models of napkins.
Around 100 girls from various colleges participated in the two days
workshop. The valediction programme of the workshop was held on
16.03.2018 by 04.00 pm. Dr. P. Natarajamurthy, NSS Programme Officer
welcomed the gathering. Dr. K. Duraiarasan, Controller of Examinations,
Bharathidasan University was the chief guest for the valediction programme.
He said that inner cleanliness is more important than the outer cleanliness,
especially for the adolescent girls. He also insisted the participants to
spread the message what they got from the Workshop to other students of
the college and to the public. Dr. A. Lakshmi Prabha, NSS Programme
Coordinator proposed the Vote of Thanks.
