Field visit.to Dorned province
The Liberal Women’s Intelligence
Foundation in Dornod province
has been implementing a project
“Future- without AIDS” to prevent sex
workers from HIV/AIDS in Dornod province
since January 2009. Munkhnasan M., NAF
program officer, had visited Liberal Women’s
Intelligence Foundation in Dornod province to
monitor project implementation and provided
necessary technical support to Liberal
Women’s Intelligence Foundation.
In addition, she completed the following
tasks within her visit:
• Organized the joint meeting of project
team and representatives of local government
organizations to increase collaboration and
cooperation of local Governmental and Non
Governmental organizations;
• Discussed with project team
members about the results of the monitoring
conducted in previous quarter. In addition, she
explained about the missing proof documents,
supporting materials in previous reports,
mismatching their indicators and had provided
instructions on how to write the report for next
quarter.
To reach sex workers at the border area,
particularly in Chinese border area is getting
very difficult so that it requires working closely
with the Police of the People’s Republic of
China. Because it is beyond the possibility of
project team’s independent activity, they have
agreed to select women participating actively
in project work, who are permanently living in
“Altan emeelt” and capable to cross the border
when the border is open, and train them
as peer educators and outreach workers to
distribute information to targeted community
over there.

QUARTERLY NEWSLETTER OF THE NATIONAL AIDS FOUNDATION
The medical science has proved
that the human sexual orientation
is natural inborn condition and
it is accepted all over the world. In many
countries the human sexual orientation is
accepted, respected and sexual minorities are
supported with different activities to protect
their human rights. In our country there are
a few NGOs working to protect human rights
of the gay community in Mongolia and to
change the negative approach from the
society towards the gay community. These
organizations provide information about HIV/
AIDS prevention for the gay community, also
help them learn how to protect themselves
and their friends from HIV/AIDS.
Since 2007, Mister Beauty contest has
been organized by the ‘Youth for Health’ NGO
with the financial support from NAF. Year
by year the number of contestants has been
increasing and getting more popular among
the gay community. The aim of this contest is
to respect human rights of the sexual minority
and provide an opportunity to get closer with
each other, letting them spend their free time
in an effective way and to get the knowledge
to protect themselves and others from HIV/
AIDS.
This year’s contest was organized
12th December 2009 and there were seven
contestants.
The contest was held in a quiet place
and gathering supporters of the contestants. I
know it is not right to call them ladies but they
are ladies. The seven contestants showed

and nightdress, swimming suit, talent,
intelligence competitions where competitors
