Inauguration of IETE National Journal of Innovation & Research (IETE-NJIR)

Vol III, Issue II, December 2015 took place on 10th December, 2016. The

technical event started at 3.30 p.m on Saturday, 10th December 2016.

Dr. S.R. Jog, chairperson of IETE-NJIR welcomed the authors and audience

and gave information about IETE-NJIR. Prof S K Khedkar, Immediate Past

Chairman, stressed the importance of research in present academic

scenario. Shri G K Dawara Chairman IETE Pune Centre, felicitated

reviewers present on this occasion. Release of the journal took place at

the august hands of Shri G K Dawara, FIETE, Chairman IETE Pune Centre.

All the authors presented their research ideas to the audience. Reviewers

namely Dr. Pramod Patil, Dr. Y.H. Dandawate, Dr. P H.Patil, Vice-Chairman

IETE Pune Centre, Dr. Deepali Sale, Dr. Yogesh S Angal and other EC

members/dignitaries like Dr. P W Wani, Mr R V Datar, Mr. Sagar Vanarase,

Mr. R K Bharucha, Prof Suvarna Kulkarni and Prof Vivek Rane were also

present for the event. Mr. K R shende Hon secretary, IETE Pune Centre

extended vote of thanks.

3. 63rd IETE FOUNDATION DAY CELEBRATION

63rd IETE Foundation Day was celebrated on 5th November, 2016. The 63rd IETE

Foundation Day was celebrated at IETE, Pune Centre on 5th November, 2016 at

Global Hall from 06.00 p.m onwards. About 41 members attended the function.

Shri G K Dawara, Chairman IETE Pune Centre welcomes all. Prof. (Dr) P.H. Patil

read out the message of the IETE President, Lt Gen (Dr) AKS Chandele, AVSM

PVSM (Retd), sent on the occasion.

The Chief Guest, Advocate Vaishali Bhagwat, delivered her lecture on the

theme, “Cyber Security threats & imperative”.

The highlight of the programme was the honor bestowed upon two senior

members of IETE Pune Centre, who have rendered yeomen service to IETE. Gp

Capt Kaushal, Shri. Shrinivas Sardesai were honored by the Chairman, Shri. G K

Dawara by offering them shawl, mementos and bouquets.

4. Sir. J C Bose 158th Birth anniversary, on 30th November, 2016.

Sir J C Bose 158th Birth anniversary, on 30th November, 2016, function held at

MIT Engineering College, Kothrud, In Vivekanand Hall.

Vijnana Bharati, Pune organized 158th Birth anniversary program in MIT campus

on 30th November, 2016. Padmabhushan Dr. Vijay Bhatakar presides over this

program and main speaker of the program was Dr. Swam Kani Ghosh Director

NCRA. The primary objective of this program is to inspire student that research

and innovation need not wait for want of sophisticated gadgets and

instrumentation.

There cannot be any better example than that of Sir, J.C. Bose to showcase this

concept. He was a polymath, physicist, biologist, biophysicist, botanist an

archaeologist, as well as an early

Writer of science fiction stories. He pioneered the investigation of radio and

microwave optics, made very significant contributions to plant science by

inventing a crescograph and laid the foundation of experimental science in

India. He is a father of radio science. And all this he achieved when no

sophisticated instrumentation was available in his time.

5. ISF ACTIVITY:

a) VIIT Vishwakarma Institute of Information Technology:

Department of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering was organized

One Week Short Term Training Program (STTP) on “Design, Testing,

Performance Evaluation & Applications of Microwave Antennae 2016”

(21st November, 2016 to 26th November, 2016).

E& TC Department of Vishwakarma Institute of Information Technology (VIIT),

Pune conducted a Short Term Training Programme (STTP) for faculty and

industrial personnel, from 21st November to 26th November 2016 on “Design,

testing, performance evaluation & applications of Microwave Antennae 2016”.

It was technically sponsored by SPPU, IEEE ComSoc Pune Chapter & IETE Pune

Chapter. Mr Kasyap Ramkrishnan & Mrs. Archana Ratnaparkhi were the

conveners of this program. Some of the eminent speakers who engaged the

sessions were Dr. Surendra Pal (Vice-Chancellor, DIAT), Dr. R.K. Shevgaonkar

(I.I.T Mumbai), Dr. K.P. Ray (SAMEER, Mumbai), Dr. Girish Kumar (I.I.T Bombay),

Dr. D.C. Pande ( Former Associate Director, LRDE, DRDO), Dr. Jayprakash Thakur

(Intel, Bangalore), Dr. Y. Ravinder (PICT, Pune), Dr. S. Raju (TCE, Madurai) and

Shri M. Balachary (Scientist H, Head Antenna Wing, DLRL, Hyderabad).

Laboratories based on CST Microwave Studio & Vector Network Analyzer was

conducted by Mr. Kasyap Ramkrishnan, VIIT Faculty & workshop on antenna by

industry person, Mr. Aniruddha Kulkarni. There was also an industrial visit to

GMRT. Seventy eight faculties from six states- Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa, Andra

Pradesh, Karnataka & Kerala attended this program. The program received great

appreciation from all participants
