It’s been one week living
our new social distancing
lifestyles. Luckily we’ve all
started to adapt ahead of
the real lockdown starting
this week!
What has the team been
up to?

We’ve been
investigating ‘going
out’ in our PJs -
concerts, the MSO,
the NGV, the
Melbourne Zoo and
more!
“There’s a 12 hour ‘live’ festival
coming up with bands playing
live from their homes /
studios!”

After years of scrolling
through posts about online
workouts and making
unkept promises to
ourselves about working
out from home – is it finally
time for at-home fitness to
shine?
“I’ve been all over the home exercise
programmes!” Jac

In addition to countless fitness YouTubers, new options are
opening up to keep us in shape at home…which will stick?
Fast thinking and flexible fitness providers have
moved classes online. From local personal trainers,to boutique studios, we can sign up to livestream
classes or one-on-one training at home.
This is especially good news for those of us whomiss our favourite instructors from time spent
overseas! (me!)
The Fitness and Lifestyle Group is making the
Centr app available to members of FitnessFirst, Goodlife Health Clubs, Jetts Fitness and
Zap Fitness so they can “continue to reachtheir fitness goals” from home.
For the next three months, members can
access the Centr personalised digital healthand fitness program of daily workouts, meal
plans and meditations (curated by ChrisHemsworth) for free.

Might we actually get
better at catching up
with friends?
“It took a pandemic to get me to lock in a
wine night and coffee catch ups with
friends in Perth! So easy, why have I not
been doing this the last three years?”
Sam

Now we are, on a global level, in the same boat, our regular catch-
ups are more geographically diverse
Virtual happy hour with friends near and far… And we are all keen to try Netflix party!
We’ve experimenting with…
Taking up gaming (not new to all of us, but
certainly some). And using House Party (look itup)…

Our parents are
expanding their online
presence…
“Even my parents are learning to use
Zoom because they need it for
livestreaming their church sermons and
meetings. [COVID-19] has forced them to
become more comfortable with
technology” Fee

First time Zoomer Boomers (and Anita)
Some are attending church online. Church
services over video conferencing has goneglobal. Pastorsonline.com offers 10 tips for
clergy looking to enter this brave new world.
Our parents are finding new ways to connect with their
hobbies. My dad has discovered Chordify - jamsessions online (apparently it is better with
headphones on – phew!)
And the knitting community around our resident
nanna in disguise (hi Anita) has stepped up efforts tokeep people engaged. From free pattern designs,
and online lessons to support for local retailers.
“[Community activity] seems to be exploding at themoment to help people cope with having all this time
alone in their homes.” Anita

Some of our local
businesses have helped us
by getting creative with how
they bring us goods and
services
“Appointments with specialists over
Skype - why can’t it always be like that!
Parking in East Melbourne is a
nightmare.” Kim

We are connecting with some of our regular businesses in new
ways
Live-streamed storytime services from the local
library (apparently things like this are a life-saverfor those with little people in the house)…
And taken our first steps into consults via Skype
(with mixed reviews – good for adults, not asgreat for kids reports Sharon).
Over the last week we have…
Started supporting some of our local
restaurants and cafes who are taking their firststeps into delivery…

And the last word goes to Jac…
“Its fascinating because we might find better ways of doing things that we should have been doing anyway!”
