EXPLAINABLE QUANTUM COMPUTING CREDIT RISK ANALYSIS
CLIENT CONTEXT
◎ The state-owned development bank wants to position itself as quantum computing domain expert for it`s stakeholders and bridge the gap from quantum computing research to practitioners` application with focus on deep technical & software development know-how
APPROACH◎ A prototype web application challenges the user and points out banks problems in
providing credits to clients. It trains the user in understanding and applying quantum tools for quantum risk analysis. This builds technical expertise and supports the clients leadership in the evaluation of the technology.
IMPACT
◎ Phase 1: State of the art research, visualization and simulation tools are leveraged in an interactive web notebook to explore challenges, classical solutions and potentials of a quantum approach.
◎ Phase 2: We delivered a web application for a c-level innovation workshop building intuition for black-box quantum technology tools and prospects of application.
◎ Phase 3: We created a proof-of-concept quantum analytics pipeline and customized quantum algorithm implementations to benchmark against industry standard portfolio credit risk analytics toolkits

CLIENT CONTEXT
◎ Federal Ministry for Econ. Affairs and Energy - AI Innovation Competition: “The innovation process in the field of artificial intelligence in Germany is to be put on a broader basis. […] AI methods shall become an even stronger driver for innovative value-added networks and the creation of new products and business models in the various sectors of the economy. With the innovation competition, the BMWi is making a direct contribution to implementing the Federal Government's AI strategy. […] The present measure is therefore also important for the technology transfer to SMEs provided for in the AI strategy.”
APPROACH◎ Special hardware is already used to cover growing compute needs in view of receding
growth rates in conventional compute infrastructure. In the long run a "quantum leap" in computing power is necessary for steady growth.
◎ The project PlanQK - Platform and Ecosystem for Quantum Supported Artificial Intelligence develops a platform for AI & QC specialists, developers, as well as users, service-providers and customers. PlanQK provides the basis for building a community for quantum-assisted artificial intelligence.
◎ We support early adopters in the consortium to realize business oriented quantum use-cases, application development, platform deployment with focus on KI and optimization in the energy system sector and related problems.
IMPACT
◎ Federal Ministry for Econ. Affairs and Energy funds Accenture as Consortium Partner in PlanQKAI/QC Initiative (consortium funds: 19 Mio. €)
◎ Product incubation processes and methods applied to quantum computing technologies and 15 quantum use cases
◎ Functional and technical requirements analysis, algorithm and SDK scouting established
