Principal’s Report
Congratulations to Scarlett, Tilly and Adelaide on
a great effort at the Western Region Cross
Country last Wednesday.
K, 1-2 are off to Grenfell tomorrow with the
preschool to see the Gigalees. They need to bring
their morning tea and will be back in time for
lunch orders. Thanks to Kacie Cattle who is
transporting some students into Grenfell.
I’m looking forward to seeing everyone at the
assembly and P&C Meeting on Thursday. The
assembly starts at 2:15 and will be followed by
the P&C meeting.
Good luck to Dana and Summer who are
representing our school in the Multicultural
Perspectives Public Speaking competition in
Dubbo next Monday. The girls will be presenting
their speeches at the assembly on Thursday.
Next week we have Isabel Pereira joining us for
work experience. Isabel is a year 10 student at
The Henry Lawson High School, she will be
sharing her time between the 2 classes. Isabel is
the granddaughter of Elaine Pereira.

June, 2019
Each week, on a Friday, students either help in the school kitchen or garden. K, 1 – 2 students enjoyed working with Mrs Ryan last Friday in the garden. Students picked fresh corn, carrots and peas. Thank you Mrs Ryan for teaching us how to grow and look after different types and varieties of vegetables. Left to right: Justin, Jane, Alexiah, Heidi and Ashton.

HEAD LICE We believe that head lice are present at the
school at the moment. Please ensure that you
check your children’s hair on a regular basis. If
there is any sign of head lice, please treat
immediately to stop them spreading to other
students and staff. For information on treatment
contact your local chemist. Please also discuss
ways of prevention – such as not sharing hats,
brushes and combs and hair bands.
The following information has been taken from
the NSW Department of Education webpage –
Health & Physical Care page.
The facts
head lice are one of the most commonly
reported health complaints from parents
and teachers
anyone can catch head lice regardless of
their age, sex, or how clean their hair is
head lice move from one person's head to
another via direct contact with the hair
head lice do not survive long when they
are off a human head
head lice do not live on furniture, hats,
bedding or carpet
head lice have built up some resistance to
head lice treatments
Tips for parents in reducing the spread
of head lice
As infestations are particularly common in
primary schools, it is best to choose a treatment
that can be used over time. There is no single
solution to eradication, only persistence.
regularly check your children's hair
teach older children to check their own
hair
tie back and braid long hair
keep a fine tooth head lice comb in the
bathroom and encourage all family
members to use it when they wash their
hair.
Zucchini Chips with Herb and Garlic Dip
Ingredients
4 small-medium zucchini
(500g), ends trimmed
1 egg
11/4 cups (70g) panko
breadcrumbs
1/2 cup (30g) finely grated
parmesan cheese
2 tsp dried Italian herbs
Olive oil cooking spray
Herb and garlic dip:
1/2 avocado, peeled and
chopped
1 cup parsley leaves
2 tbs lemon juice
1 small garlic clove,
crushed
Method
1. Cut zucchini in half crossways, then cut lengthways into 1.5cm thick chips. Pat zucchini dry with paper kitchen towel.
2. Whisk egg in a shallow dish. 3. Combine breadcrumbs, parmesan and herbs in a
large bowl. 4. Working in batches, dip zucchini chips a few at a time
into the egg, then toss in breadcrumb mixture, pressing firmly to coat.
5. Line a large oven tray with baking paper. Spray paper lightly with cooking oil. Arrange zucchini chips in a single layer on prepared tray. Spray chips lightly with cooking oil.
6. Bake in a 220C preheated oven for 15 minutes. Remove trays. Turn chips, then return to oven for a further 10-15 minutes, or until golden.
7. Meanwhile to prepare the dip, process all ingredients in a food processor until smooth.
8. Serve hot zucchini chips with dip.
