Regulations Concerning Participation in Graduation Ceremonies
All students must be complete in all courses and have successfully completed the necessary credits for graduation by 8 AM on May 30th in order to participate.
Completed your Program of Study (24 credits)
CCR Portfolio completed and approved
Keystone Exam content completed and approved.
Not accrued unexcused absences in excess of 10% of school days All graduating seniors must attend the scheduled senior activities (Cap & Gown Distribution, Senior Picnic and Graduation Practice) and be on time. Students who are absent or late for these activities may be excluded from participation in the graduation ceremony by administration. All students must report to the high school by 4:45 PM and will be transported to the PP&L Center by bus. Students are not permitted to provide their own transportation to the ceremony. Bus transportation will be to the PP&L Center, NO return trip is available. All students must be properly attired for graduation ceremonies. Boys must wear a shirt with a collar and long pants. Girls should wear light colored clothing. No shorts, flip flops or sneakers are allowed. No additions or decorations may be added to your cap or gown. Any student who does not adhere to the regulations as stated above or who does not conduct themselves in a responsible manner during the final weeks of school, rehearsal, or during pre-performance staging will not be permitted to participate in the graduation ceremonies. Students who bring any item that would serve to disrupt the ceremony will be excluded from participation. Graduates are not permitted to have cameras, video cameras, cell phones, or pagers on the floor during the ceremony.
Excusals If you wish to be excused from Rehearsal or Graduation, a written excuse signed by your parents must be presented to Mr. Finnerty no later than Wednesday, May 30, 2018. (A parent or guardian must sign the excuse regardless of your age.) If you are not attending graduation, you do not have to attend the rehearsals. The graduation list will be finalized on Thursday, May 31, 2018 - No changes will be permitted after that date.
Instructions for wearing caps & gowns
Take your cap and gown home in order to make adjustments as to the length (9 inches from floor with shoes on). Caps are worn with the mortarboard flat on top. Loop your tassel around the center button of your cap. Use a clear piece of tape to fasten your tassel near the outer edge of the cap so that the tassel hangs along your right eye when the cap is worn. Nothing may be written on or attached to the mortarboard.
Tickets
Ten (10) tickets for the ceremony will be given to each student at cap & gown distribution. Additional tickets may be requested in the main office after cap & gown distribution. Wheelchair accessible seating should be arranged with the SHS office after initial ticket distribution. There are a limited number of wheelchair accessible seats available – these will be distributed on a first-come/first-served basis. Parking is $3 at PPL Center.
Graduation Diploma/Laptop Pick-Up, Monday, June 11, 2017 You will not receive your diploma or other graduation related items on stage on at the graduation ceremonies. On Monday, June 11th between 8:00 AM and 2:10 P.M., please report to Room B101 to receive your laptop and diploma. Students who wore a National Honor Society stole or Capstone cord for the graduation ceremony are required to return them on Monday in order to receive their diploma packet. PLEASE REMEMBER: ❖ Keep this schedule and read the contents carefully.
❖ Report where scheduled and be on time. ❖ Be quiet and orderly both in school and at the PP&L Center. Please
conduct yourself accordingly and follow all school rules and regulations. Commencement is a school function and you are still expected to abide by the code of conduct. You will be excluded or removed from the graduation ceremonies if your behavior is not appropriate.
