• Please note that information listed above is subject to change based on evolving conditions.

• Those who are 65 and over and those with high-risk health conditions should remain at home.

• Those who are symptomatic or have tested positive for Covid-19 should not enter a church until

released to do so by their health care professional.

• The Dispensation from the obligation to participate at Mass on Sundays is extended throughout

the state of Indiana until August 15, 2020. This dispensation applies to all the faithful, not just who

are 65 and older.

PUBLIC MASSES

If things stay more or less like they are presently,

I hope to resume daily and Sunday mass in both

parishes, St. Pius and St. Michael the week of May

25th. I hope to also resume Sunday Mass on Pentecost Sunday,

May 31st. Please see the front cover of this digital bulletin for

Mass times. People will show up or they won’t. I believe that

ADULTS should be able to make their own decisions regarding

their health –in fact, regarding almost everything. I also be-

lieve that, if we set up guidelines, adults of good will will do all

that they can to protect their neighbors (keep their distance,

have no physical contact, “social distance” according to preva-

lent norms, etc.) I do not believe we need markers on the floor

or in pews.

ST. MARK’S PARISH COUNCIL MINUTES

Via Zoom May 12, 2020

Special Guest: Vickie Hillenbrand to

assist with guidelines from the CDC. This

special meeting met via Zoom to discuss

the possibility of opening St. Marks.

The meeting began with Fr. Tony in-

forming the council of the diocese’s

guidelines. Notably:

• It is recommended parishioners 65

years or older refrain from attend-

ing church until further notice

• Everyone is dispensed from church

attendance obligation until August

15. They may attend out of desire.

• Anyone that has been around any-

one that has tested positive for

Covid 19 should not attend

• Everyone should wear masks

• Everyone should maintain the rec-

ommended 6 feet distance from

other parishioners. Vickie clarified

that people living in the same house

may sit together of course.

• Capacity should be limited to 20-

30%

• The diocese is making certain that

the proper sanitizing supplies are

available to the parish

JP asked the parish council member to

share their thoughts about the church

opening at this time. There were mixed

feelings about opening up the church at

this time citing several considerations. It

was decided to revisit this topic in two

weeks and meet again via Zoom on

May 26th. Father Tony and JP recom-

mended that in the meantime council

members ask other members of the par-

ish their thoughts, feelings, and concerns

about reopening St. Marks.
