22. How do I create a QR code?

  • Select the generator that you want to use
  • Put in the URL of the website that you want users to connect to
  • Voila! A QR code is created

23. QR Code Generators

  • QR Code Generator from the X Project
  • http://zxing.appspot.com/generator
  • WASP Barcode Technologies

  • Kerem Erkan

  • KAYWA QR-CODE
  • http://qrcode.kaywa.com/

24. Smaller URL = Success

  • A small URL is much better to use to create a QR code than a longer or standard URL.The longer the URL or web address, the more complex the code, hence, harder for a cell phone to read.
  • Here are three suggestions to create small URLs
  • TinyURL.com http://tinyurl.com/
  • Google URL Shortenerhttp://goo.gl/
  • Delivr http://delivr.com/
  • Wikipedia: "URL stands for Uniform/Universal Resource Locator. It is a character string that specifies where a known resource is available on the Internet and the mechanism for retrieving it."

25. Key things to consider

  • Content for your website: Who is developing the content for where the QR code is pointing or linking to?
  • Who puts the information on the website?(Who is putting info on the website to tell us about the rabbit?)

26. URL Shorteners... in action

  • Article title Valpak, Leader in Direct Mail Industry, Pushing QR Codes to 80 Million HouseholdsStandard URL (long):
  • These QR codes were created with the Kaywa Generator.

New URL (short):Using Google URL shortenerhttp://goo.gl/gkLGf 27.

  • How about a website that generates a QR code and can also track the information for you?
  • MeetDelivr.com . It creates and tracks your QR codes.

Information Tracking 28. Why use a tracking website?

  • It organizes tracking data
  • It simplifies the process of creating codes by including a URL shortener
  • You may choose to have some information accessed by both a link off of a website and a QR code. These sites track hits off of each
  • Most importantly, it tells you how often each code was scanned

29. Delivr Close up view What can be done with a tracking site

  • Create the QR code image to share in your print media or on your website
  • 3. Create a flyer to share

30. Active Tracking This is the QR code that I set up for tracking the hits on my stacks at delicious.com/stacks/rosehuling 31. Analyze the results 32. Best Practices

  • Plan your project / campaign:Decide what you want to connect to your codes and why
  • http://www.squarecode.biz/2011/05/how-to-use-qr-codes-to-enrich-users-and-customers-experiences/
  • Use a short URL, better yet, use a tracking site
  • Include a text phrase or website address next to your QR code for alternate access
  • Test your QR code (and retest it)
  • QR code should go to a mobile friendly website
  • Provide Unique Content Dont sent people to your home page
  • Matthew Killmurry http://www.slideshare.net/kilmurry/qr-codes-statistics-tips-tricks-and-resources
