    micrometer.

    a) By using optical flat and monochromatic light explain the procedure to determine

    (i) whether the given surface is flat or curved. (ii) Whether the curved surface is

    convex or concave.

    b) What are interferometers? Explain working of any one Interferometer.

    4. a) Staten the principle of operation of Mechanical and Optical comparators.

    b) Describe with a neat sketch construction and working of an instrument used for

    measurement of surface roughness.

    effects on the effective diameter.
