PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Welcome everyone to this month’s instalment of Arcus.

What an interesting Month it has been during the past few weeks. On Wednesday

4th April, the CMC had the pleasure of hosting Reflections as our Technical meeting.

Ash Dowthwaite walked us through the award winning Pacific Fair Shopping Centre

featuring some stunning lighting effects.

Adam Wildman gave us an insight into the process behind the award-winning

shoreline feature using solar energy.

Both fine examples of how the use of light and controls can energise and create spaces that are pleasant to view

and inhabit.

Another recent example of the use of light was at Carrara Stadium where recent developments in projector

technology was able to showcase the Gold Coast onto the Stadium surface with stunning effect.

Whilst the utilitarian purpose of lighting remains the same, it is the unique ability of individuals or organisations

to continually evolve and develop its application in communities through new technologies.

If you are new to lighting or you would like to know more, the Society is offering a two-year lighting course in 2018.

Further details are in the link below.

As always, please don’t forget about our social media platforms:

Thank you,

Andrew Chase
