Intern Movie Night Amidst the exciting and eventful first weekat Qualcomm, a mail from the UR teamfurther amplified the euphoria. We wereeagerly looking forward to the weekendthat was to begin with an Intern MovieNight on the Friday evening (24th of May). The movie invites were accepted within fewseconds, pings exchanged to share the joy.

The much-awaited Friday was here and wecould not hold the excitement to watch thechasing cars. About forty of us left by cabsto the QCinemas, to watch the Fast andFurious 6. With the eagerness and vigour ofthe interns, words like ‘fast’ and ‘furious’fitted quite well into the scenario even offthe screen. We did have ample time on theescalators to check out almost the entiremall with its dome-shaped roof,interestingly-tiled floor and stores thatnever miss malls.

Quite memorable were the intermittenthead counts by Shilpa that made us

reminisce the picnic outings we had inschool, making it seem to us as if she wasmore concerned about the no.of headsthan even the ticket guy! With 40 oddinterns seated like they owned the theatrefor the day, passing hilarious commentsand echoing screams was nothingunexpected. Even the supposedly introvertpeople had started shouting.

Every time there was a change in the gearsof the cars, there was a roar among theguys. But there also were some “aww”s from the girls for the rare sweet scenes.

Although a seemingly 50 year old hero jumping (higher than Captain America)across bridges to save the heroine of halfhis age seemed a little(?) unrealistic , 2samosas and a coke passed over to you bysurprise can make anything exciting.

With the recurring word “family” and theunexpected sentimental scenes, thoughnot the girls, a few guys were spotted with

watered eyes. Extra tispassed, thanks to the kUR team.

We came out of the thlaughing over the discumovie, while some werby the touching scenes

We couldn’t thank thehaving begun our sumour weekend with a baevening that we realizefun and exhilaration atalmost nothing to do wthe movie’s good!

    Intern Outing - Wonderla

“ Qualcomm laga dala, toh life Wonderlala” – screamed an excited intern when he discovered that not

only was he getting a weekday-off but also a sponsoredtrip with his fifty-two intern friends to Wonderla, boththanks to the much-awaited event – The Intern Outing!

A huge bus almost completely full of over-excited andscreaming interns, all charged to make the day the mostmemorable one of their summer, didn’t require a bumpyroad to agitate through its way to Wonderla. The almosttwo-hour long morning journey (thanks to Bangaloretraffic), wasn’t quiet for even a minute as the interns keptthemselves busy with the universal journey games –

Antakshari and Dumb-charades! The bus was bifurcatedinto two teams: front half- the silent and melodiousones and the rear half – the roaring and aggressive ones!

When it came to Antakshari, both teams agreed todisagree on who won. As all the Bollywood songsseemed to have gotten exhausted, it was only prudent tomove on to Dumb Charades, which didn’t last long as thebus hit Wonderla.

There was barely any angle from whichphotos weren’t clicked. Every camerathat was brought had to have group

photos of varying backgrounds which,no prizes for guessing, were the coverpictures of most interns on facebook thenext day.

It was an unanimous decision to first tryout the land rides and then the waterrides. The land-rides, in a nutshell, couldbe described as adrenaline-rush filledrides where your souls almost come outfor a few seconds and go back in, where

you get either churned in a box orrotated haphazardly on the name of funthat might or might not inducedizziness, but will sure make you realizehow much you love your life!

Some interns also climbed the 50 m hightower only to experience the enthrallinglook from on top of the giant wheel.Though most people tried out almost all

the land rides, Shilpa claimed to havefun just by clicking snaps of internsscreaming when they’re upside down.

Then came the water-rides. The wavepool made us jump more than a skippingrope did in our entire lives. But the funpart came when we chilled out (literally)in the pool. Also, quite adventurous were

the anaconda-like minternally dark tunnsteep slides. They al

QCaresGiving has been part of Qualcomm’sculture since its founding over 25 yearsago. One of the Company’s basic aims isto change the world for the better. Withthis vision in mind was organized theintern event – Qcares! A group of interns

would go to a school named Shishu Mandir, and carry out certain fun andpersonality developmental activities.Making the participation in this event

voluntary made really no difference. There were interns who had cancelled orpostponed their meetings with theirmanagers so as to not miss this

    experience.

We had divided ourselves into fourgroups for four class ranges. Funactivities for kids, how to play chess, internet usage and advice on exampreparation for high school children

were broadly what we had been asked tocarry out. It took negligible time for theenthusiast interns to form teams of

roughly ten each and their team leadersto plan out the events. We had stackedin with us loads of goodies for the kids,to give away through different drawingcontests and other activities.

While on our way to the school, we hadall sorts plausible and fearfulpossibilities haunting us - “What if thechildren start running away from us?”.“What if they start sleeping or crying?”

But all those were nreality. The momentschool, all the childrgrid, sang a welcom

Idea Quest31st May 2013. It was a quiet morning atQualcomm, and everything was going onnormally, until a mail landed onto all theintern desktops at Qualcomm – the launchof IdeaQuest! A competition to fosterinnovation and creativity by challenginginterns to develop new, cutting edge ideas inareas that are strategically relevant toQualcomm – it said! But all that appearedblurred to most guys who couldn’t get theireyes of the footnote – “Reward: AQualcomm powered device for eachmember of winning team!”

It was launched with Aneet kick-startingthe session with the general guidelinesfollowed by an overview of the event from

10 ideas, 4 from Bangalore and 6 fromHyderabad were chosen for the finals tendays later. Each idea presenter was to select4 more interns to work for the finals,

wherein we had to showcase our ideas,

market them and get votes. The ideapresenters now became demi-gods with allthe interns trying hard to be a part of theirteams. While the incentives of treatsfavoured some, many others rejoiced,“Having a smart college-mate finally paidoff!”
