Q6: What have you learnt about technologies from the process of

constructing this product?

Page 2: Q6evaluation

Adobe PhotoShop

PhotoShop was very useful when creating my front cover a as I could edit the images to create a professional image for my magazine. . I learnt how to change the adjustments to my images such as altering the hue/saturation, levels and the brightness etc.

It also had a large variation of fonts and colour’s, which widened my options and ideas. I learnt how to use the colour picker and the shape tool to add variation to my magazine.

In the screen shot below I shows the software and a part of my front cover that I screenshot whilst creating.

The only downside would be that it was confusing to work at first and took some getting used to.

InDesign

Adobe InDesign was most useful when I was making my contents page and my DPS as I was able to have my pages together on one document, therefore making it easier to complete.

I learnt how to insert images, text (changing font and colour) and how to create columns. And in particular how to do text wrapping which is where the text shapes itself around the image.

The only downside to InDesign is that it is fairly complicated to use and took some getting used to but when used to is a fast efficient software that was vital for the making of my magazine

Blogger.com

I found www.blogger.com was very useful whilst making my product, it has been a great way to post and organize my work on the feed. Also it is easy to see and access.

I learned how to embed and post videos, Prezi’s, Slide Share/Power Points and other things like Glogster and Pixton.

However I find it can take a while to load a blog which can be time consuming and frustrating.

Prezi

Prezi is a great way to create a professional presentation and is fun to use.

It was a new software to me so I learnt how to use it from scratch, at first it was challenging but once I was familiar with the tools it was easy and quick to use. I learnt how to insert images and text and how to add ‘path’ to give the presentation flow and organize it into chronological order. I was then able to embed this into my blog which I has knowlegde of from using the software.

The only downside was that the software wasn’t always reliable to save efficiently

Slide Share

Slide Share was very easy to sign up to and to use. I used it to convert my PowerPoint so I was able to embed it within my blog.

I learnt how to upload my PowerPoint and convert it, which was very similar to YouTube therefore making my first experience of it much easier as I was able to relate.

Pixton

Pixton is a great software as it is easy to use and it adds diversity to my work. Also it is free.As this software was new to me and I only heard of it as I completed my evaluation, I learnt from scratch how to use it. I learnt how to make a comic strip which I have used in my evaluation. I learned how to change the characters positioning, change the background, add text and shapes/speech bubbles.

The only downside is that you have to sign up and you must have the latest version of Adobe Flash Player which could be an issue is you were unable to download it.

This panel allows me to add characters,Backgrounds, speech bubbles and propsto my comic

This panel allows me to save, revert panel, delete, change colours and change the background gradient

YouTube

I have never worked with www.youtube.co.uk before therefore everything was new to me.

I found it easy to sign up and to upload my video from the correct format. I learned how to change the thumbnail of the video and the title. I also learnt how to find the embed code so I could upload it to my blog.

I found that Microsoft Movie Maker was compatible with YouTube as I could directly upload my video, through that I learned how change the formats so that it was able to be uploaded to Youtube.

This is how I got the embed could to put it on my blog

Microsoft Movie Maker

I found that this software was easy to use since I was new to it. I was able to complete my video from home without having to sign up to anything which is a positive.

I learnt how to insert images that I could integrate into my video, insert audio so sync with the images, also to arrange the sequences into the the chronological order that synced with the audio, also how to add a transition time for each image.

I was able to convert the project into a movie, where I was then able to directly share my video on a range of social medias, such as, Facebook, YouTube and Vimeo.

Camera and PhotoShoot

It was essential that I used a digital camera and a professional photo-shoot for my images to enhance the professional outlook to my magazine, I used a white background when shooting my images as it enhanced the professional outlook to my magazine.

I learned how to adjust the zoom and the focus on the camera and the lighting on the photo-shoot, also when I was shooting outside I learned how to adjust the brightness on the camera to avoid any distorted images.

I captured my images free hand therefore I learned to adjust my position to avoid blurred images, I did this by having a a good stance and locking my arms as I took the image.

Also how to import the images from the camera to the apple mac.
