1 I was told my disgusting carpet would be replaced sometime last year or over the summer. This year I was told it wouldbe replaced over one of the breaks. I still have carpet which is disgusting, stained, and not kept clean. I do not think thejanitors vacuum regularly. My family helped me steam clean it at the beginning of the year and that was a labor intensiveproject but we did it to provide a better classroom environment. You are unable to tell we did this because the carpet isabsolutely disgusting.

# Q1: GREAT FALLS HIGH SCHOOL DATE

1 The carpet! When we try to make posters for the classroom, such as anchor charts or projects, students have to go intothe hallway to complete them because they cannot write bearing down on the carpet. The desks are also a physicalfeature that limits instruction because the desks constantly break and some of them have even hurt students.

4/30/2019 10:14 AM

2 There are no features that limit instruction in the classroom, but this seems to be the page to offer the followingsuggestions. Teachers and students tend to paste student work and announcements directly to the walls, because thereare few bulletin boards available. It makes the hallways look messy and haphazard. All paper signs should be removedfrom doors and replaced with plastic or metal ones. Student work, signs, posters, announcements, etc. should be onbulletin boards. The payphone is a really interesting feature that should stay. It's quaint.

4/30/2019 3:22 PM

3 My roof has been leaking since September 2018. The leak is not as simple as a drip, but a substantial leak consisting ofmore than a 20 square foot area where rain enters my classroom. This obviously limits the amount of space that I canactually utilize during rainy days. At least 10 ceiling tiles have fallen, some during my actual class instructional periods.

Q40 What other improvements could be made to further improve the quality of yourclassroom for instruction

Answered: 51 Skipped: 27

# Q1: CHESTER HIGH SCHOOL DATE

1 Nothing at this time 5/6/2019 7:00 AM

2 Students need work spaces that allow them to collaborate. 4/30/2019 4:04 PM

3 I need control over temperature, light, and physical layout in the classroom. 4/30/2019 4:02 PM

4 The rooms are oddly shaped and I have no windows. The thermostat controls two rooms and causes one to be verystuffy and one to be manageable. Having light switches that control different sets of lights.

4/30/2019 4:02 PM

5 I hope I will have new shades for my window and I will be given new lamps. I hope also to have something to hang onprojects of my kids.

4/30/2019 4:02 PM

6 Noise making by students, when parents are contacted, some respond positively while others don,t, this makes thestudents come back even more noisy , making teachng difficult. Even after sending them to administration, they comeback better than their parents.

4/30/2019 4:02 PM

7 additional kidney table and cabinets 4/30/2019 4:01 PM

8 The classroom should have complete materials that are used in collaboration. 4/30/2019 3:58 PM

9 Windows for a science class would be nice in a future structure 4/30/2019 3:58 PM

10 The temperature needs to be adjustable. When it is controlled at the district office, the classrooms can be stifling andmakes it very difficult for students to focus and stay awake.

4/30/2019 3:55 PM

11 The carpet is absolutely disgusting, and no amount of cleaning will remove the years of filth and mold. It should bedestroyed and replaced with new, clean, non-porous surfaces

4/30/2019 3:53 PM

12 Air conditioners 4/30/2019 3:53 PM

13 Better AV, better control of lighting, control of temperature and airflow, better access to charging of electronics, betterwireless network setup.

4/30/2019 3:51 PM

14 N/A 4/30/2019 3:50 PM

15 Computer work Stations for students and a place to hold instruction for 15 students. 4/30/2019 3:47 PM

16 Having a movable white board 4/30/2019 3:46 PM

17 None 4/30/2019 3:43 PM

18 We need the ability to dim the lights. 4/30/2019 3:41 PM

25 My heating and air conditioning do not work properly, sometimes not at all. The lighting needs to be more flexible. I haveno way of creating direct lighting. The multiple lights wash out all shadows. natural light from the outside is limited. I needmore room in a more standardized configuration to facilitate instruction. There should be a separate kiln room and alarger storage room as well as shelving for class sets of ceramic and 3D projects.

# Q1: GREAT FALLS HIGH SCHOOL DATE

1 I feel the need to elaborate on these answers. My first year at Great Falls it was LITERALLY impossible to see thePromethean board during my last class because the sun came through the blinds and the Board was not bright. Iinstalled black out curtains with my own money for the next school year. I also purchased holiday lights and hung themaround the room to provide additional lighting because the overhead lights had to be turned off in order to see the board. As for classroom temperature, my last class BAKES because it is so hot and crowded. I have to run a hot glue gun infront of the sensor AT ALL TIMES because it becomes so stuffy in here it is miserable and the students cannot learn. Asfor adequate space for staff to dine, there is a break room. We cannot use it because we are required to be with ourstudents at lunch. I can also hear teachers two doors down even with the door shut.

4/30/2019 10:22 AM

2 Replace cracked and broken chairs, new tables 4/30/2019 9:43 AM

3 A dehumidifying, well-functioning, air conditioning unit that does not squeak or rattle would be nice. We have been toldthat the school will have some MUCH NEEDED new carpet next school year.

3 A larger building with space for instruction, supply, and activities. 5/3/2019 8:37 AM

4 My classroom is fine, but I have the biggest one in the building. My colleagues would ask for... more square footage, more storage space, maybe an "office area" that can be in a separate shared room, more flexible seating and tables,WINDOWS!!!! (no one likes feeling like they're in a dungeon because of no natural light, more outside workareas/common planning areas outside of the classroom, DIMMABLE Lighting, more charging ports/power stations forstudent electronics (maybe some in-floor plugs to avoid the cords)

Q47 Are there any improvements you would like to see to the exterior of the school?Answered: 48 Skipped: 30

# Q1: CHESTER HIGH SCHOOL DATE

1 Get rid of exterior doors and new roof 5/6/2019 7:05 AM

2 We need a second gym and an auditorium. The Freshmen Academy needs a separate wing. 4/30/2019 4:07 PM

3 NONE 4/30/2019 4:06 PM

4 There is not a track. The football field drains terribly. 4/30/2019 4:03 PM

5 None at all. 4/30/2019 4:03 PM

6 none 4/30/2019 4:02 PM

7 track is not functional 4/30/2019 4:00 PM

8 We need a new track and field area and baseball/softball fields. The school entry also needs to be pointed in the generaldirection of the road, so it is easily identifiable by visitors.

4/30/2019 3:59 PM

9 The school needs to continually maintain its facilities. 4/30/2019 3:59 PM

10 Honestly, that it be replaced with an entirely new school. That is the only realistic solution to the problem. The vermin, roaches, mold, and disrepair evident in this building are completely unsatisfactory for a child's education.

4/30/2019 3:56 PM

11 If we had a certified track, baseball/softball field and tennis courts we could host events and bring revenue to the school. 4/30/2019 3:55 PM

12 Serious security issues on our campus. Athletic facilities are sub-par, no designated area for Marching Band, tennis, baseball and softball both have to play off campus, no track facility for training or competition, student, public traffic flowis uncontrolled.

4/30/2019 3:54 PM

13 More outside safe places for students during lunch time. 4/30/2019 3:48 PM

14 More color/landscaping 4/30/2019 3:47 PM

16 nothing 4/30/2019 3:39 PM

17 None 4/30/2019 3:36 PM

18 More welcoming, change the way that people come into the school. Rearrange the way that people enter the parking lot.Make a larger area for students to sit in during lunch - possibly covered/indoors.

4/30/2019 3:22 PM

19 No 4/30/2019 3:19 PM

20 I'd like to see some type of wall built the large number of classroom entry doors that are on the outside of the building.Building should be connected in such a way so that students are never outside the main building during classexchange.

4/30/2019 11:45 AM

21 Need of more on campus practice and game fields. For large events parking is not favorable for visiting teams, fans, officials or event workers. Stadium upgrade needed.

4/30/2019 10:31 AM

22 Fewer exterior doors. 4/30/2019 10:01 AM

23 Add shades and sitting benches all around the campus. Improved gardening and landscape to promote aesthetic appealof the school.

4/30/2019 9:06 AM

24 For security purposes, I would like to see the exteriors classroom doors enclosed in hallways. I feel there are too manydoors accessible to the outside. Roofs are leaking in the overhangs.

4/30/2019 8:15 AM

26 turf the playing surfaces of the sports complex 4/30/2019 8:06 AM

27 A security fence. Build a wall enclosing the immediate outside of the school, making all outside classrooms into insideclassrooms.

4/30/2019 8:03 AM

28 There should be a better lay out where visitors can easily find the front office. 4/30/2019 7:52 AM

29 Just updating. Tiles are missing and it leaks. 4/30/2019 7:36 AM

2 Baseball and softball fields closer to school 4/30/2019 10:09 AM

3 The GF Complex sign needs to be repaired, freshened up, or knocked down. All paper signage needs to be removed orreplaced with plastic or metal signs. The doors need to be sanded and restained. Some sort of façade in front of theoffice entrance would indicate where it is, and repairing or replacing the leaky sidewalk shelters in front of the schoolwould couple well with the façade.

Q55 In your opinion, what additional features or measures would make the classroomsafer during an emergency event?

Answered: 53 Skipped: 25

# Q1: CHESTER HIGH SCHOOL DATE

1 I can not think of anything right now 5/6/2019 8:08 AM

2 The pod structure is more like an escape room. 4/30/2019 4:20 PM

3 EMERGENCY CALL 4/30/2019 4:15 PM

4 Too many outside doors. We need barriers to prevent intruders from having access. 4/30/2019 4:13 PM

5 The emergency call buttons do not work in all of the rooms; the announcements cannot be heard in the facultyrestrooms; the fire alarm doesn't go off in the media center, the classrooms have pods so they're all connected; many ofthe classrooms have large outdoor windows---all of these problems could be remedied with straight hallways and awhole new building

4/30/2019 4:10 PM

6 Guess to monitor all external doors are closed. 4/30/2019 4:10 PM

7 We have two doors into each room that makes it difficult to stand by and confront an intruder. The classrooms withwindows leave no place for students to hide.

4/30/2019 4:07 PM

8 WAY fewer exterior doors. More exterior cameras. 4/30/2019 4:05 PM

9 change of building design 4/30/2019 4:05 PM

10 The school needs to maintain its facilities. 4/30/2019 4:02 PM

11 all doors should be securable in the case of an active shooter/lockdown, all classrooms are vulnerable via the POD andunlockable interior doors. Furthermore, hallways and locker setup allows hundreds of hiding spots.

4/30/2019 4:00 PM

12 Working cameras to cover sightlines currently not covered to include all parking areas. Some type of main entrance orbarrier when vehicles enter the school. There are too many areas where someone could just walk on school groundsand start shooting. Especially the outside trailers.

4/30/2019 4:00 PM

13 that air conditioner and heating work properly so I can keep closed all the doors in my room. 4/30/2019 3:59 PM

14 There are too many doors in my room. I worry about intruders having so many points of access in my room. 4/30/2019 3:50 PM

15 CHS is on right track 4/30/2019 3:46 PM

16 For us to be able to have access to more of the outside doors! 4/30/2019 3:46 PM

17 The pods are dangerous. If an intruder gets into one classroom, they have access to all classrooms in the pod. 4/30/2019 3:44 PM

18 nothing 4/30/2019 3:41 PM

19 None 4/30/2019 3:37 PM

20 Pods are not the best way to manage students. 4/30/2019 3:27 PM

21 Covering some of the interior windows 4/30/2019 3:22 PM

22 Because most classroom doors open out into the hallway, it makes it impossible to fully secure them with door jams orsome other device that would it harder to access from the outside.

4/30/2019 12:15 PM

23 I'm not sure anything can be done to this particular building. We have a pod construction with exterior exits/entrances forsome classrooms.

4/30/2019 10:41 AM

CCSD - Teacher Survey

24 We do the best we can with the layout of the school to deal with safety issues. The layout of this school makes it verydifficult to secure the entire school due to the number of outside entrances.

4/30/2019 10:36 AM

25 My classroom is isolated from the rest of the school. There is no internal access to the rest of the school. We are aloneout here.

4/30/2019 10:05 AM

26 Sensors or alarm system to identify and send message to the authorities in case there are unidentified individuals orstudents that may pose hazard or risk to life.

4/30/2019 9:17 AM

27 More exterior lighting. At night the campus is very dark and in my opinion unsafe for students and faculty. Athletes andcoaches that return to school at night are in a parking lot that is dark and not secure.

4/30/2019 8:48 AM

28 Enclose the classroom doors that have outside access in hallways. We have too many doors that open to the outside. 4/30/2019 8:42 AM

29 All classroom being in the inside of the building in the case of an intruder 4/30/2019 8:21 AM

30 due to the configuration of the building, there are too many exterior doors. 4/30/2019 8:11 AM

31 Lockable pod doors. 4/30/2019 8:09 AM

32 Not having two doors to the room. You should be able to lock all doors. 4/30/2019 7:54 AM

33 Able to close out windows and doors for an intruder. 4/30/2019 7:44 AM

34 Doing well in my opinion 4/30/2019 7:38 AM

# Q1: GREAT FALLS HIGH SCHOOL DATE

1 I'm not sure if it is possible to change but there is a large vertical glass pane in the door. With it there is a small corner ofthe room which you are able to remain hidden in. I think changing that and adding additional locks would significantlyimprove my perceived level of safety.

22 The current locker arrangement makes it easy for students to congregate in them to argue, make out and bully othersbecause it is hard for teachers to monitor the current set up. With the use of technology and the lack of use by students, lockers are taking up valuable space in our schools that could be better utilized as sitting areas.

4/30/2019 12:15 PM

23 Yes. The pod design makes passageways nearly impossible to properly supervise. There are tens of exterior doors thatare kept locked but can be opened by students randomly. I feel that the building is extremely unsafe.

4/30/2019 10:41 AM

24 Block outside classroom doors and have 2 entrances into the school. 4/30/2019 10:36 AM

25 All of it. The pod system is crazy. 4/30/2019 10:05 AM

26 The school has no fence or main gates. It is not safe as it is designed and constructed with a lot of entrance and exits. Ifa fence will be established like in different countries and security guards will be hired to monitor the entry and exits ofpeople, it will be much safer.

4/30/2019 9:17 AM

27 all outside lighting needs to be fixed and more lighting needs to be added in parking area around football stadium, student parking lot, gym area, and in general around the entire campus. To many dark areas for keeping a safe schooland campus

2 I was hoping there would be a rest room for staff near my pod or that is very accessible to my room. I was hoping thereis proper ventilation in the chemistry laboratory that we can easily open when there is a need during experiments.

I would also like to see the lunch courtyard enclosed so thatstudents are not sneaking out of the court yard and knocking on the exterior doors during their lunch breaks. I would alsolike to see the lunchroom updated with more natural lighting and a more inviting atmosphere.

17 IF Chester High School is to undergo major renovation or construction of a new facility, there is one advantage to the poddesign that should be incorporated if possible. Collaboration among teachers is much easier with this design! We areable to build strong relationships as well as collaborate more often and in informal ways (often more productive). Pleasekeep some type of space close to classrooms in mind. This has been especially effective for teachers in the FreshmanAcademy this year.

1 I think the biggest issues are small ones that compound until they cannot be handled. Discipline is still my number oneissue. Students disrespecting teachers and having no consequences for their continued actions. Additionalresponsibilities that are delegated to teachers, such as duty. One of my coworkers is physically unable to complete theirmorning duty and as such coworkers have to fill in. Covering classes when subs do not show or never took the job. Iphysically cannot remember the last week where I did not have to cover at least one class.

3 I do NOT believe a consolidated school is a good idea - there are students that live in the far-sides of the county who geton a bus at 5:00AM & get off the bus at 5:30 PM - not to mention that it would be too many students to monitor andactually CARE about their wellbeing and success in high school!
