Q.1 Reflect on John 20:31. Why is this chosen as the theme verse for the entire book of John? Q.2 John 1:4-5 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.” - When The bible says “in Him was Life” how does this prove that Jesus is God? (hint: He did not acquire that life, it originated with Him) Q.3 Vs 4 -“and the life was the light of men.” This statement inherently addresses the fact that man is in darkness. Mankind does not possess the power to rid themselves of darkness. Why is it that man cannot rid himself of darkness? (Hint: Look up Ephesians 2:4-5 as a start) Q.4 John 1:7 “This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all through him might believe.” Dissect this verse together and ask yourself these questions: What is a witness? What does it mean to “bear witness?” Is “bearing witness” in word only, or is it also in deed? What is the goal of witnessing for Christ? Personal achievement? What does it mean that all THROUGH Him, might believe? Prayer: Lord, my desire is to bear witness to the life and light found in Your Son. Help my life to be a true reflection of Christ. Amen

“In Him was life.” Jesus is the life. He doesn’t acquire it. It is not from an outside source. It generates within Himself.Life originates in God. Without God, there is no life. Jesus himself later proclaimed, John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”No amount of good works or kind deeds can earn your salvation. Salvation is completely and entirely offered by the One who can change your spiritual condition, namely Jesus Christ HimselfJesus came as light. He immediately drew mankind to Himself by being in direct contrast to the darkness around him.God's wisdom dictates that his Son should be heralded, announced, proclaimed by people that He sends. Evidently God knows that this is the way to bring the greatest happiness to men and the greatest glory to his Son.John’s entire life had a single purpose and that was to be a witness for the Light, so that through that witness, others might believe in Christ. As Christians, you and I have a single purpose in life, to bear witness of the Light of Christ. All Christians are to be the light of the world (Matthew 5:16). All are called to witness to the light (Acts 1:8, 1 Peter 2:9). But God still calls some in a special way and for special tasks. Matthew 9:38 says "Pray the Lord of the harvest to send forth laborers into his harvest" Romans 10:14—15 "How shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent?". How effective is your witness for Him? Is His light in you shining so that it pierces the darkness around you?
