Mobile sales front-end on Teamcenter
P’X5 brings your product knowledge to your sales
channels and hence to customer contacts. Web-based
replication and synchronization mechanisms support
decentralized and mobile applications. This means
P’X5 improves iterative, multi-level coordination
processes between in-house and field personnel, na-
tional companies, distribution partners, and custom-
ers. Quotations prepared on- or offline in P’X5 are fed
back to Teamcenter to launch the right follow-up pro-
cesses for special designs, manufacturing, and instal-
lation.
Fail-safe compilation of projects
and quotations
P’X5 will produce standard quotations in accordance
with internal guidelines. Where tender specifications
apply, it will also compile them flexibly in open-
ended project structures. The tiered quotation and
project structure contains individually configured
products and services as itemized parts lists with the
relevant names and technical characteristics. Item-
ized parts lists and documents are ready for hando-
ver with the project. Workflows control technical and

In the P’X5 authoring environment you transform your
technical data from the Siemens PLM applications, us-
ing graphical editors, into product information for sales
and project engineering. P’X5 is designed for inde-
pendent management and extension of product knowl-
edge by companies.
Product catalogs and price lists
The CAD and PDM data from Teamcenter are linked
with the commercial master data from the ERP and
brought into a sales system. Product master data are
harmonized, assigned selling points and embodied in
standardized variants. Product structures can be ex-
plicitly prescribed for sales assemblies, planning ob-
jects, and sets of spare parts. Costs and prices are cal-
culated from definitions of variants and structures.
P’X5 allows appropriate organization of product lines
for marketing, so that illustrated catalogs and price
lists are available, generated automatically for print
and web.
Configuration with modular systems
P’X5 models reusable modules intended for use in a
modular system. For this purpose, classified interfaces
can be specified geometrically, based on the JT ob-
jects. Other modules can then dock on to these. Sets
of rules use the modular structure to generate consist-
ent, multi-level assembly structures automatically.
This enables your sales staff to master complex prod-
ucts and transform the flexibility of the modular sys-
tem into convincing customer benefits. The expert
knowledge of machinery configuration stored in P’X5
enhances the quality of advice and reduces specifica-
tion risks.
Quotation calculation and printouts
P’X5 carries out automatic price calculation, which
runs during the consultation, based on the generated
parts lists. The derivation of authoritative documents
in P’X5 supports rapid agreement of the final details.
Quotations in various foreign languages are generated
quickly using multilingual text blocks. Instead of time-
consuming manual creation of product documenta-
tion and the associated drawings, P’X5 generates the
documentation at the press of a button. In addition to
the quotation summary, this documentation includes
the installation plan, commissioning instructions, and
3D, illustrated product descriptions.
Integration with Teamcenter
As a solution partner of Siemens PLM, Perspectix of-
fers release-ready interfaces that integrate the P’X5
sales solution with Teamcenter and JT. This means that
your sales staff is seamlessly integrated in the PLM pro-
cesses. The Teamcenter link in P’X5 was developed in
close cooperation with TESIS PLMware and is based on
their integration technology, with which SAP can also
be coupled to Teamcenter. Product configurations de-
veloped in P’X5 are created in Teamcenter as new as-
sembly items. While P’X5 uses lightweight JT visuali-
zation data, the parts-list structures created in
Teamcenter can be opened in NX or Solid Edge as na-
tive solid parts and used further for special designs.
Even parametric parts can be controlled using P’X5 fea-
tures, via modular variants. In addition to the design
parts lists, supplementary documents in formats such
as JT or PDF are also transferred to Teamcenter for fur-
ther handling. Any data records, for example generated
quotations or exported JT models, can be linked as con-
tent-addressable records with any items from a modu-
lar structure in Teamcenter. The advantages are obvi-
ous: project data are exchanged between sales and
engineering with no media conversions and are used
uniformly.
JT-Import und -Export
P’X5 supports the lean JT data format for data import
and export, which considerably simplifies the close

Edge allow the generation of lean JT models, which
are tailor-made for the requirements of the configura-
tion. This lean design ensures the operability of the
configurator on commercially available laptops, even
with large-scale project engineering. It also protects

Unlike the purely text-based configuration system
found in ERP or CRM systems, the sales-oriented P’X5
