Illegal dumping o household garbage is a serious prob-lem that afects all residents and taxpayers in the region.Te Regional District o Central Kootenay (RDCK) iscurrently investigating speci c incidents o illegal dump-ing at the Kaslo rans er Station and Recycling Depot.Te RDCK and local authorities are taking steps to com-bat this problem and to prevent uture occurrences.

Illegal dumping can attract wildli e, create health andsa ety hazards, and increase the risk o re. In an attempt

to save time or a ew dollars, care-less individuals create a problemthat costs everyone in the region.

All residents share the respon-sibility to dispose o waste legallyand with respect or their neigh-bours. Te ollowing solid wastedisposal methods are unaccept-able at any time: littering; burn-ing garbage; burying garbage atany location other than a legalacceptance acility; dumpinggarbage at any location otherthan a legal acceptance acility;and, leaving waste in or near thewrong receptacle (e.g., using thedumpster rom a business or put-ting garbage in a recycling bin).
