The PVSEC Cancer Center combines all aspects of cancer treatment and diagnostics under one roof:

SURGERY to diagnose and remove tumors.

ONCOLOGY to treat residual or m e t a s t a t i c d i s e a s e w i t h chemotherapy, immunotherapy (such as the melanoma vaccine), or molecular therapy (such as Palladia).

RADIATION THERAPY for tumors that cannot be completely removed due to location or extent, or that do not respond well to chemotherapy.

ADVANCED ON-SITE IMAGING to obtain digital x-rays, ultrasound, CT and MRI for diagnosing, staging, and planning treatment.

TEAM APPROACH between these and all of our other specialty services for the best care possible.

Often, a combination of multiple types of treatments is the most effective way to obtain the best possible outcome. We help each owner identify the ideal treatment plan for their pet on an individual basis, taking into account patient status, owner considerations, and the latest in veterinary knowledge. Most importantly, we place the patient’s quality of life above all else. After all, the goal of cancer treatment should be to make your pet feel better, not worse.

For pet owners, the availability of all of

these services in one location means your pet can receive the most effective combination of treatments to achieve the best possible outcome.

Now that comprehensive cancer therapy is available in Western Pennsylvania, owners no longer have to leave their pets in another state to obtain treatment. Most treatments can be done on an outpatient basis. Time is precious when your pet has cancer; we want our patients to spend it with their owners, not in a hospital.

For referring veterinarians, having

comprehensive cancer care in one location means you no longer have to determine the best treatment option prior to deciding where to send patients. If you are uncertain which service a patient should be referred to, our medical oncology service will assess the patient for you, discuss treatment options with the owners, determine the best treatment plan, and involve the appropriate services. As always, referring veterinarians are welcome to consult with us to obtain recommendations prior to referral.
