Pvdf is a widely used membrane material due to its properties such as high
mechanical strength, thermal stability, anti-ultraviolet radiation, smooth surface and
low protein adsorption. However, the hydrophobicity of pvdf causes membrane
fouling and limits the application in wastewater treatment. Thus is it important to
improve the hydrophilicity of the material surface. Surface coating with hydrophilic
materials such as polyethylene glycol (PE! is used to modify the surface propertyof pvdf due to its anti- fouling properties and a high level of hydrophilicity, thus
improves its membrane "u# performance.
$n this e#periment, the permeable properties of pvdf membrane are determined by
coating with PE polymers. The membrane porosity is used to determine membrane
water "u# performance.
