    TheCaliforniaSolarInitiative(CSI)isforallmarketsegmentswiththeexceptionofNew

    ResidentialConstruction. TherequirementforPVmoduleeligibilityislistingtoUL1703which

    canbeperformedbythefollowingNationallyRecognizedTestingLaboratories(NRTL): UL,

    CSA,andIntertek(formerlyETL).

    TheprocessforaddingPVmodulesforCSIisasfollows:

    1. ThemanufacturergetstheirproductcertifiedtoUL1703. UL,CSA,andIntertekaretheNRTLswhocancurrentlyperformthistesting.

    PrivatelabelingofPVmodules:SomebusinesseswishtoprivatelabelPVmodulesforanothermanufacturer. Suchproductswillbeacceptedaseligibleshouldtheapplicationformbesubmittedwitha

    MultipleListeeletterfromthelistingagency(theNRTL). TheMultipleListeeprocessishowthelisting

    agency

    certifies

    private

    labeled

    products.

    The

    Multiple

    Listee

    letter

    is

    evidence

    of

    certification

    of

    the

    producttoUL1703.

    2. ThemanufacturerfillsouttheEnergyCommissionequipmentapplicationform,foundhere:http://gosolarcalifornia.org/equipment/documents/EQUIPMENT_REQUEST.DOC

    Note:STCPower,NOCT,PowerTemperatureCoefficient,andcellapertureareaareusedbytheEnergy

    CommissiontocalculatethemodulesPTCrating.Additionaltestreportsarenotrequiredto

    substantiatemanufacturerreportedvalues. Further,additionalPTCtestingisnotrequired;the

    Commissionassumes

    that

    the

    NOCT

    and

    Power

    Temperature

    Coefficient

    values

    are

    the

    result

    of

    appropriatetesting. IfamanufacturerdoeswishtoperformseparatePTCtesting,thatvaluemaybe

    reportedontheformandsubstantiatedwithatestreportonhowthevaluewasobtained.

    3. EmailacopyoftheUL1703CertificationLetterandtheEnergyCommissionequipmentapplicationformtoDariaMashnik.

    AlistingusingthismethodisvalidonlyuntilJuly1,2009. AfterJuly1,2009,inordertobe

    eligibleforincentiveinCalifornia,allPVmodulesmusthavebothlistingtoUL1703byaNRTL

    andadditionalperformanceparametertestingbyanILACaffiliatedlaboratory. SeeNSHPrequirementsbelowfordetails. TherewillbenograndfatheringforanyPVmodulesthathave

    beenpreviouslylistedaseligibleusingthemethodabove(UL1703only). Anymoduleswhich

    havenotcompletedtheadditionalperformanceparametertestingbyJuly1,2009willbe

    removedfromeligibilityforincentive.

    Groupingofmodulesforperformanceparametertestingpurposes

    FortestingandreportingofperformancevaluesbyanILACaccreditedlaboratory,familiesof

    similarmodulesmaybegroupedtogethertoreducetherequirednumberoftests.

    Multiplemodelnumbersmaybeincludedinagroup,providedthatthemodelsareidentical

    except

    for

    the

    STC

    power

    rating.

    ratinginthesubgroupis105percent(roundedtothenearestWatt)ofthesubgroupstestedmodelnumbersSTCratingandthelowestSTCpowerratinginthesubgroupis95percent

    (roundedtothenearestWatt)ofthesubgroupstestedmodelnumbersSTCrating. Thetested

    modelnumberineachsubgroupshallbetestedfor:

    coefficienttestingshallbeperformed. Theresultsfromthesetestsareapplicabletothe

    entiregroupofmodules. Subgroupscanthenbecreatedasfollows:

    185W,190W,195W,and200W

    170W,175W,and180W

    160Wand165W

    Forthe190W,175W,and160Wmodules,thespecifiedvoltage,current,andmaximum

    powertestingatthefollowingconditionsshallbeperformed: STC,NOCT,andlow

    irradiance. Theresultsfromthesetestsareapplicabletothemodulesintherespective

    subgroup.
