Purposeful Innovation in 2014Sno-Isle Libraries

Page 2: Purposeful Innovation in 2014

We need to:

Capture ideas from across Sno-Isle

Ensure that informed decisions (approvals/rejections) are made by the right people

Enable decision-makers to prioritize ideas approved to be implemented

Identify appropriate implementers

Communicate decisions to all at Sno-Isle

We need:

A Process!

Page 4: Purposeful Innovation in 2014

To date:

Identified potential “required” aspects of an idea management/approval process from inter-departmental group of interested people

Roughly mapped out a process

Reviewed a number of web-based, idea management software-as-service programs(SAS) and identified one that seems to support our process

What is happening now:

Recruit initial inter-departmental review team to assist in refining criteria and process – complete

Recruit one department (TS) and one community library (LNG) to participate as idea generators – complete.

Begin test of IdeaScale and refinement of process based on staff surveys and discussion –January thru March

Report to LT on effectiveness of process and software – March

Communicate to staff via Connections – monthly, throughout

Proposed next steps: Add Building & Department Managers to IdeaScale to

test moderation.

Define idea status & criteria to apply for Idea Review Team moderation.

Expand test of IdeaScale to one region (West) and SRV (April – June)

Open IdeaScale and purposeful innovation to all staff and apply complete process to all ideas (July 1, 2014)

Complete proposal for 2nd stage of review for areas of strategic focus (overview analysis for stakeholders & LT).
