GLO: The Project OPEN HOUSEMAY 19, 2016

The Globeville Landing Outfall (GLO) project includes a redesign of Globeville Landing Park combined with a new storm water open channel connecting to the South Platte River. This project provides the surrounding neighborhoods with a unique opportunity to help improve the park uses and landscapes.

The park currently has one small visible drainage outfall. The existing outfall moves storm water from a large pipe into a steep, fenced, concrete culvert that is no longer considered best practice for moving storm water safely and in clean condition to the river.

The old culvert will be removed and a natural open channel with plants and vegetation will be built that will move storm water safely from both the existing outfall pipe and a second outfall pipe that will be added in the Denver Coliseum parking lot. The open channel will provide opportunities to help naturally clean storm water.

The GLO project provides a unique opportunity to re-envision the current park to improve its use, connectivity, and appeal to the surrounding communities, as well as address concerns that the current park is perceived as unsafe due to limited visibility.

GLO: El Proyecto OPEN HOUSEMAY 19, 2016

El proyecto The Globeville Landing Outfall (GLO) incorpora una remodelación de Globeville Landing Park en combinación con nuevo canal abierto de aguas pluviales que conecta al río South Platte. Este proyecto ofrece a los vecinos cercanos una oportunidad única para ayudar a mejorar los usos del parque y los paisajes.

El parque actualmente cuenta con una pequeña vía de desagüe visible. El desagüe existente transporta las aguas pluviales desde una gran tubería hasta una alcantarilla de concreto, empinada y cercada, la cual ya no se considera como la mejor práctica para transportar, de forma segura, las aguas pluviales y en condiciones limpias hacia el río.

Se eliminará la vieja alcantarilla y se construirá un canal abierto natural con plantas y vegetación, el cual va a transportar de forma segura las aguas pluviales tanto de la tubería de desagüe existente como de la segunda tubería de desagüe que se añadirá en el estacionamiento del Denver Coliseum. El canal abierto ofrecerá oportunidades para ayudar a limpiar las aguas pluviales de forma natural.

El proyecto GLO ofrece una oportunidad única para replantear el parque actual para mejorar su uso, conectividad, y encanto para las comunidades cercanas, así como abordar las preocupaciones sobre el parque, ya que se considera peligroso debido a la visibilidad limitada.
