Purdue Crew HVAC Proposed Project (Updated 02.28.20) Purpose: To significantly increase the air quality within the currently heated portions of the Purdue Crew Boathouse. This will make the environment within the building more conducive to athletic training as well as for any events held in the facility. Purdue Crew Alumnus, Larry N. Gough ‘82 (owner) is willing to work with PRF/Purdue to complete this project by providing project management, materials & labor. Larry was a great resource in value- engineering the building to bring the boathouse project budget within reach. Mr. Gough’s company is Investment Property Advisors LLC 13 Lincolnway #206 Valparaiso, IN 46383 Plan: 1. Install a specialty HVAC system comprised of nominally two heat pumps that can be used without ductwork. 2. This specialty HVAC system (Variable Refrigerant Flow) will supply both heating and cooling to the non-shell (equipment) storage areas of the facility. 3. This system will be an independent system to the existing heat system in the building. 4. The physical size of the HVAC units are estimated to be 36”X36”X5’ tall. 5. It is proposed to locate the HVAC units on the west side of building near the large tree & electrical box under it. See site plan attached. 6. HVAC units will be enclosed with a “screen wall” to obscure the units from direct view. Two examples of the “screened wall” are on the attached site plan. 7. Color of the “screened wall” will match the brick color to blend with the building. 8. Recommended companies to perform the work will be VCS or Enviromax out of Indianapolis. 9. Mr. Gough has determined overall project cost ($175k) & provided Permit Drawings. 10. Funds are "in-hand" for this project. 11. Abby Whaley, Senior Associate Director of Facilities & Operations will be the lead on the project for Recreation & Wellness. In Process: 1. Dave K - Bring awareness to the WL Re-Development Commission through Director of WL Development Office (Erik Carlson & Erin Easter). Erik C plans for re-introduce the project to RDC on March 11, 2020. Provide Erik w/copy of proposal. 2. Dave K - Discussed project with Ross Beyer @ Purdue Research Foundation. Ross is to review the lease to determine next steps. Ross was made aware that the monies are in hand at Purdue Crew's PRF account and that Permit Drawings are in-hand. 3. Dave K - Share proposal and permit drawings with Ross B. Next Actions: 1. Develop timeline, contracts & legal documents for the project.
