FLINDERS PARK PRE-PRIMARY

2019

An Independent Public School

PARENT INVOLVEMENT

Staff and children enjoy the benefits of having a parent or family member spend time at Pre-primary. Parents are welcome to come and help at the Centres when they can.

The Early Childhood Centre, comprised of the Kindergarten and Pre-primary, has a committee which is a Sub-Committee of the Parents and Citizens Association. This meets on a regular basis. ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE

Children must be brought to the room each morning and picked up from the room each afternoon by an adult.

Please bring and pick up your child on time. If they arrive too early it feels as if no-one else is coming on the day, and if they are picked up late, they feel as if they have been forgotten!

If your child’s arrival or departure routine is changed for any reason, eg change of bus, different bus stop, he/she is being picked up by someone else, the school needs to be notified. A note to the teacher or a signed message in the communication book will be sufficient to ensure we know what is happening with your child. We must have written notification or a phone call to allow your child to go home with anyone else. If you need to pick your child up early, or drop them off late, please sign them in and out at the School Office. PARKING

There is parking available at the rear of the Early Learning Centre, accessible from the main school entry (off Yatana Road). This is a one way only traffic area with the exit down Bauer Street. There are also drop-off and pick-up bays at the front of the main school buildings. Please don’t park for extended periods of time in these bays.

Please use the designated parking bays and not the side of the roadway. We have had some incidences which have unsettled parents because cars are parked in non parking areas.

Our school is a change point for school buses and they need access to the school driveway in the morning and afternoon. Please keep this area clear for bus use from 8:00am to 8:30am, as well as from 3:20pm to 3:45pm.

DEAR PARENTS AND FAMILIES

Welcome to Flinders Park Primary School. Pre-primary is the beginning of your child’s fulltime formal education. Your child will be in an exciting and challenging environment that enables them to learn at his/her own pace.

Enrolment and attendance at pre-primary is COMPULSORY. Regular attendance helps with consistent reinforcement of social skills, behavior and learning. In saying this it is also important that in the case of sickness the child stays at home.

As parents we encourage you to support the program in a variety of ways as the learning program is very much a team approach between parents, children and staff. ATTENDANCE The full-time Pre-primary program commences for all students on Monday 4th February 2019. If your child needs a more gradual introduction to fulltime schooling, please discuss this with the Principal.

Hours of operation are from 8.50am to 3.00pm

Any absences from school requires a note, email, phone call or SMS with the reason to be provided to the school within 3 days of returning to school. SCHOOL VOLUNTARY CONTRIBUTIONS The School Contributions are set by the School Board and for 2019 will be $60 per student. For families of 3 or more children the contributions are set at $180. Funds collected benefit the school and contribute towards the purchase of valuable resources.

CLOTHING AND FOOTWEAR It is suggested that you don’t send your child in ‘best’ clothes. Quite a lot of our activities are messy and although we do our best with aprons and so on, accidents do happen. Please include a spare set of underwear and pants, in the students school bag, in case of accidents. During the day children will be removing their shoes to play on equipment. This is to maintain safe practices and for optimal physical development. HATS As children are engaged in active outdoor play it is important for all children to bring a sun-safe hat every day. During Terms 1 and 4, we have a “NO HAT, NO FUN IN THE SUN” Policy at the school. Sun Safe hats are either legionnaire styled or broad brimmed. Baseball style caps are not suitable. BAGS Children will need a LARGE bag to hold their fruit, lunch box and to bring home their work. They will also need a library bag as we will go to the school library each week. Please ensure ALL children’s belongings are named. (lunch box, jumpers, hats etc.)
