STAMPBede Appeal - Brian House Hospice Did you know that the stamps you receive on your letters at home can be recycled? You can bring all of your used stamps into school and place them in the envelope in your form room or in the post box in the SLC. They can then be recycled and exchanged for money which is used to purchase vital medical equipment for terminally ill children in Brian House Hospice. CAFOD Harvest collections October 2017 The Soup Lunch raised £129 with additional money collected from the coin boxes in forms. This will be used by CAFOD to purchase vaccines, shelter and supplies for communities and families devastated by recent weather disasters. Year 9 Mass of Remembrance (Tuesday 7th P2 hall) The following pupils will be involved in the presentation of the Year 9 Mass of Remembrance: Michael Daly, Lydia Pearson, Rory Donnelly, Catherine McGinty, Gabriel Ward, George Smith, Ellie Owen, Ella Holliday, Freya Allen, Niamh McNulty. Volunteers must practise their readings over the half-term break in preparation for the practice and Mass in the first week back after the holiday.

General Notices British Values (Freedom) Remembrance: During this week, we will join the country in remembering and honouring those who have sacrificed themselves to secure and protect our freedom with Sunday, 12th November being the day when the nation comes together through services and ceremonies to 'remember'. Year 9 will participate in the annual Mass of Remembrance on Tuesday, 7th November during period 2. Poppies will be on sale in school during the week and it would be good to see the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal particularly well supported by Year 9 wearing them for the Mass. Mass of Remembrance: During period two on Tuesday, 7th November, Year 9 will be attending the Mass of Remembrance in the hall. Please report to your form rooms at the start of period two where you will leave bags and belongings before being escorted to the hall in silence by your form tutors. You will sit where directed with Bamber, Beesley and Cottam on the left hand side of the hall and Finch, Harcourt and Haydock on the right.

Act of Remembrance: On Friday, 10th November at 11:00 am, we will observe a period of silence to remember all those who have died in conflict. A bell will ring at the start and end of this period of time which should be observed with great respect for those who have given us so much. Progress Tests: You will already have been told about the first set of Progress Tests by your teachers in English, Maths and Science and many of you will have already completed some of them. There is information and revision resources on Firefly for each subject. An outline of what you are being assessed on is on the attached sheet. Firefly and 'phone app: It is good that many of you are using the Firefly app on your mobile 'phones. It is important to be aware that you must also refer to the homework task section using your device because there will usually be more detailed information that you will need on there. (Advance notice) Friday, 17th November (Early closure): Please note that the school closes at 12.25 pm on Friday, 17th November. No lunches will be served on this day.

Mr. Grice Welcome back to what will be a very busy and enjoyable second half to the Autumn Term. I hope that you have returned refreshed from the half-term break and are ready to make a very positive contribution to every aspect of your lives at school being proud of ‘Being a Bede’.
