W H O I S T H E L E G A L L Y B L U N T ?
My name is Jocelle Dela Cruz, a law student in Polytechnic University of the Philippines and the author
of the blog "The Legally Blunt". I was born on a hazy day of August 23, 1991. I have small yet tantalizing eyes, aquiline nose, fair complexion and an average
built of height and weight. My family and other relatives are fond of calling me Jocelle, but I prefer
Jhay-cee. I grew up in a populous yet lively neighborhood in Tatalon, Quezon City.
I best describe myself in 3 C's -- Courageous, Capable and Crazy! I know that perfection doesn't exist in this world but I always make sure that everything I do is
out of my 100% effort because in all means, my name is at stake. I enjoy reading mystery novels from
authors like Sidney Sheldon, John Grisham and James Patterson. I am also very fond of romantic-comedy movies. Becoming a lawyer was at first my Mom's
dream for but as I go along the journey, I learned to love and claim it! I decided to put up this blog to share
how it's like to be a one hot crazy law student chic.

PUP College of Law - FAQsSince I've been receiving a lot of emails lately asking
about information one needs to know on PUP College of
Law, I decided to post all the FAQs that an interested
applicant would want to know. However, please note
that some of the information here may change without
prior notice and almost all the details posted on this
particular one are the same as you'll see on the PUP
website. Thank you! I hope I was able to help you :)
What is the history of the PUP College of Law?The PUP College of Law (PUP CL) was established in
2001 and it confers a post-graduate degree in Bachelor
of Laws (LL.B). The College aims for excellence and
aspire for superiority in providing legal education that
meets national standards to qualified students in order
to develop trustworthy lawyers and patriotic national
leaders. The PUP CL is one of the top law schools in the
country and has already a generated a number of
passers in the bar examinations.
Consistent with the desire of the Chairman of the PUP
Board of Regents to open the College of Law in the first
semester of school year 2001-2002, the Vice President
for Academic Affairs, the Dean of the College of
Accountancy and Law and the Chairperson of the
Department of Law met in the early part of May 2001
to finalize the proposal to approve the establishment of
the PUP College of Law.
In January 2001, the University President instructed the
Dean of the College of Accountancy and Law to
conduct a study and prepare the proposal for the
establishment of the College of Law in line with the
pertinent provisions of DECS Order No. 27, otherwise
known as the “Policies and Standards for Legal
Education” and CHED Memorandum Order (CMO) No.
46, s. 1996 (the Policy and Program Deregulations vis-
a-vis Higher Education Institutions).
Immediately thereafter, the desired proposal was
submitted to the University Academic Council, which in
turn endorsed the establishment of the College of Law
to the PUP Board of Regents in its letter dated May 25,
2001.

How much is the tuition fee and other fees in the PUP College of Law?
Currently, the PUP College of Law charges P500 per unit as tuition fee. Thus, a law student will pay a tuition fee of P 9,000 for an 18-unit regular load assuming that he is a full-time student. The amount would be lesser if he is a working student as he cannot surely take a full regular load. A working student may only manage to enroll around 12 to 15 units per semester.
On top of the tuition fee, a law student will also pay miscellaneous fees amounting to P 1,050 which includes medical and dental, library fee, registration fee, energy fee etc. So, all in all a regular full load semester would cost a full time student P 10,050--an amount which is very minimal compared to other law schools. The total amount may however be paid on installment: at least half of which during
enrollment and the balance before mid-term examination.
See complete list of fees below as of 2012.

Hi. May I ask what are the things to be expected in the College of Law entrance exam? Is it more like a regular college entrance exam or the exam for the CL revolves around things related to law?-Kyle

Hello Jocelle! Ask ko lang if they are strict with the number of English units a potential student has to take before taking the exam. I graduated with an Econ degree and I only have 12 units of English. Will they still require me to take the additional 6 units? Thank you very much! :D
