URUGUAY,FORESTRY AND LOGISTICS HUB
A strongly rooted industry with a view to the futureOccupying a privileged location in Latin America, Uruguay is situated on the
Rio de la Plata Estuary, with the Atlantic to its south-east.
The country has port terminals dedicated to forestry and agricultural products, as well as to shipping containers. Its system of free ports and customs-free
zones operates as ports of entry for goods that are distributed throughout the entire region. This logistical advantage facilitates international trade and
makes Uruguay a service hub for the region´s thriving forestry industry.
Forestry industryUruguay has more than one million hectares planted with eucalyptus and pine for industrial use, and harvests more than fourteen million m3 per year. The wood is supplied to cellulose plants, plywood and chipboard factories, saw mills, tissue plants, paper mills and biomass energy generators. Its forestry industry generates some two billion dollars annually.
Prospects for the installation of a new cellulose plant, the greatest economic investment in the country´s history, point towards sustained growth of the forestry industry into the future.
Thirty years of forestry development have placed Uruguay, together with Brazil and Chile, among a select group of
Latin American countries with the highest growth in the cellulose industry at the global level. At present, Brazil is the world´s top
exporter of cellulose, with Chile in fourth place and Uruguay in the number eight position. In the coming years, Argentina and Paraguay will also
head towards integration in the modern forestry industry.
These prospects for the future are the reason for holding an International Fair that will help to foster new alliances, explore business opportunities
and develop regional logistics projects. In addition, it offers multinational companies a chance to connect with the region, and solutions for
suppliers in satisfying the demand for goods and services.

INVITED BUSINESSES
25 YEARS IN THE FOREST INDUSTRYThe Punta Forest fair is organized by Siglo
Comunicación, a company working in the thriving
national forestry sector for a quarter century, from
the first attempts at automated planting, through
the construction of the country´s first private port
in M’Bopicuá, to the building of the sector´s most
modern industrial plants.
Siglo Comunicación´s goal in holding the Punta Forest fair
is to provide a regional launching platform for the forest
industry. Sustainable development requires business
actions that focus on the social, environmental, technical,
commercial and logistical challenges of the coming years.
We look forward to seeing you at Punta Forest. Together we can make it better.
