Minister for School Education Department Dr. Murad Raas Applauded the PCTB’s Scheme of Studies The Honourable Minister for School Educa�on Department visited the PCTB in November, 2018. Addressing on the occasion, Dr. Murad Raas elucidated the importance of uniform curriculum as it would be helpful in bridging the gap between all segments of the society. He said that the government is primarily focusing on improving the educa�onal standards so that the poor and marginalized segments of society may also avail the opportunity of quality educa�on. The Minister for School Educa�on Department applauded the Scheme of Studies developed by PCTB. The Chairperson PCTB, Lt. General (R) Muhammad Akram Khan briefed the house that development of Scheme of Studies requires inputs of all stakeholders to reflect the needs of the society and the learners. This Scheme of Studies will open new horizons of learning and will be a milestone in the educa�onal sector. Mr. Aamir Riaz, Addi�onal Director presented the PCTB’s Scheme of Studies and briefed the house regarding new curriculum interven�ons and developments by the PCTB. Afzaal Ahmad Director Produca�on briefed about the core func�ons of PCTB. Launching of PCTB Curriculum Portal Curriculum Wing Established Liaison with Qarshi University, Lahore Development of Curriculum in various Disciplines Mr. Abdul Qayoum, Managing Director, PCTB launched Interac�ve Curriculum Portal in odrer to introduce curriculum interven�ons and promote curricula development and its allied ac�vi�es. The portal provides elabora�on of government policies with reference to curriculum and textbook development. Curriculum portal will be a source of informa�on and innova�on in terms of feedback to ensure quality in curriculum and textbooks. Prof Dr. Syed Muhammad Ahsan Chairperson Dep�. of Computer Science, Director QEC Qarshi University, welcomed the delega�on. It has been agreed to establish liaison for feedback regading quality assurance in Scheme of Studies and curricula. Director C.W briefed regarding latest curriculum interven�ons introduced by PCTB. He highlighted the need for qualita�ve curriculum and textbook improvement. The delega�on exchanged their views on planning of seminar on “Introduc�on of Scheme of Studies” at the Qarshi University. Development of Language Curricula Consultative Meeting on Human Rights Issues in Curriculum In the Subject of English Language Mrs. Abida Perveen, Deputy Director (Humani�es-Curriculum) coordinated review process to finalize the dra� curricula of English for Grades I-XII. The officer coordinated the review commi�ee mee�ngs along with relevent subject experts which were invited from public and private sectors. Emerging trends and related latest field of knowledge has also been incorporated for qualita�ve inputs in the subject of English. Dr. Muhammad Sohail Sarwar, Deputy Director Language (Urdu) has coordinated the review process of Urdu curriculum for Grades I-X. Experts of concerned discipline had contributed for review process to ensure it’s quality. Dr. Tahir Mehmood, Director Curriculum along with Mr. Karam Hussain, Deputy Director (Curriculum Wing) par�cipated in the mee�ng of Human Rights, held in office of Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, Lahore. The consulta�ve mee�ng focused at iden�fica�on of Human Rights themes in different curricula and suggested the inclusion of missing themes in the curricula and textbooks. It has also been highlighted that special compe��on for children to promote awareness of human rights themes should be organized by Human Rights Commission. Curriculum Wing, PCTB has dra�ed curricula in various disciplines of science and humani�es as per requirements of new Scheme of Studies. PCTB has also developed Scheme of Studies and no�fied 23 curricula documents for primary, elementary, secondary and higher secondary levels. Development of ECE Curriculum Mrs. Mamoonah Yasmeen, Deputy Director (Science-Curriculum) par�cipated in the consulta�ve mee�ng for the development of Early Childhood Educa�on (ECE) Curriculum at PMIU office along with representa�ves of World Bank and Na�onal ECE Consultants in Pakistan. Development of Economics Curriculum for Grades IX-X Mr. Muhammad Akram, Deputy Director (Curriculum Wing) has worked out dra� Curriculum of Economics for Grades IX-X. The current dra� Curriculum would provide baseline for Economics related issues. Experts are requested for providing their feedback on the dra� document.
