About Savitribai Phule Pune University

Savitribai Phule Pune University (Formerly University of Pune)

one of the premier universities in India, is positioned in the

North-western part of Pune city. It occupies an area of about 411

acres. It was established on 10th February, 1949 under the

Poona University Act. The university houses more than 46

academic departments. It is popularly known as the 'Oxford of

the East'. It has about 307 recognized research institutes and

612 affiliated colleges offering graduate and under-graduate

courses.

About the Department: The Center for Continuing

Education established in 1972 was upgraded as the

Department of Adult, Continuing Education and

Extension in 1978, as a result of University Grants

Commission’s Policy (1977). The UGC has provided the

lifelong learning guidelines in keeping with the global

trends in 2007. In order to meet the needs of

knowledge society in 21st century, Maharashtra Public

Universities Act 2016 has made the provisions of

Lifelong Learning to cater the needs of diverse sections

of knowledge society. The Department conducts M.A.

Programme in Lifelong Learning and  PG diploma in

Tribal Development.

Scope and area to be covered: Exploration of Areas of Lifelong Learning Practicumsand Establishing Linkages with Communities ofpractice.

Workshop Objectives: 1. to explore the areas of Lifelong Learning Practicums. 2. to define the criteria for creating effective environment ofLLL practicums. 3. to define its learning outcomes 4. to define the roles and responsibilities of the stakeholders in the LLL practicum. (i.e. LLL Department, Organizations,Community of Practice, Students, Mentors etc.). 5. to design the LLL practicum process based on defined Communities of Practice, Situation Based Learning andProblem Based Learning Scenarios. 6. to develop the strategies and methods of for LLLpractices communities of practice as a learning intervention.

About Workshop: Learning occurs due to self-motivations for specificpurpose. Learning applies for molding or shaping thebehavior in traditional point of view; but it is a main key ofhuman resource development which transforms existingreality through lifelong learning. Therefore LLL is being anemerging field of practice needs to explore and define theareas of practice alongside the trans-disciplinaryconsiderations. Today world is explored but human realityneeds to understand and assess continuously to facilitatetheir livings. In order to explore areas of learningrealistically we believe in knowledge and experiencessharing so that it could be materialised and developed forthe further academic practice. In the phase of informationtechnology learning is opened and accessible to all through the mode of the ICT. The huge information isavailable at internet for all in free of cost. Anyone canaccess information from anywhere, anytime in any pace.However, the major issues are that about generation of knowledge and updation of information in day to day life.How to apply it in the development sectors? How to use itin transformation? For this purpose, the trainedmanpower is required in the area of Lifelong Learning. Hence, National Workshop on Exploring Areas of LifelongLearning Practicums offers a pragmatic Universal Designof Lifelong Learning Practicums which is held between12th to 14th February 20120.

Papers are invited based on following areas of lifelong learning. Resource Persons andparticipants are expected to select any theme and prepare the thematic paper in English orMarathi on the lifelong learning practicums.
