Cash Customers are Important to Your Business
• Cash customers face hurdles when they pay with cash.
They have to estimate what their tank will hold.
They have to return to the store to receive change if they over-estimate so they tend to underestimate.
They have to have the right currency in their wallet.
They have to wait in line-maybe twice.
• Handling cash increases cashier errors and takes them away from selling in-store merchandise.
3
How NPCA Has Addressed The Need
• National Payment Card Association (NPCA) has developed a technology solution that improves your handling of cash customers.
• Customers don’t under-estimate the amount of fuel.
• Drives up the amount of cash transactions.
• According to a 2011 study by NACS, about two-thirds of consumers pay for their gas with plastic, leaving one-third who are primarily cash customers.
• Eliminates the need for customers to pay before they pump their fuel.
• Adds convenience and customer stickiness.
• Customers continue to come into the store- enhancing the opportunity for in-store purchases.
