Diaphragm pumps These are oil-free pumping mechanisms available in two forms, one for pumping air and one for pumping chemicals. A typical use of a chemical version would be for rotary evaporation. Piston pumps These are oil-free pumping mechanisms that generally have a higher compression ratio than diaphragm pumps, and provide good flow characteristic when used in such applications as filtration, cell harvesting and vacuum oven drying. Not suitable where aggressive vapours or solvents are involved. Scroll pumps A sophisticated oil-free design that gives high flow rates and deep vacuum of the same order as rotary vane pumps. Your application may require the use of a chemical trap.     Bigger is not better as too large a vacuum pump tends to increase the likelihood of condensable vapours bypassingthe cold trap and migrating into vacuum pump oil. For instance, a -55C system condenser will not condense outAcetonitrile vapour causing vapour to condense in oil.

    UNIJET II and UNIJET IV Refrigerated Aspirator Pumps The UNIJET II and IV pumps are designed for absorbing larger quantities of solvents, especially incombination with rotary evaporators. They have a built-in cooling system to chill the water bath and toeliminate normal heat-up caused by pump operation. Cold water has a high capacity to absorb aerosolswhich are released by the samples. The vacuum that is generated depends on the temperature of the water:The lower the temperature, the higher the vacuum; at +4C a vacuum pressure of ca. 4mbar is attainable.

    The glass inlet separator helps protect the pump from ingesting liquids or particles. The gas ballast orvent switch acts to minimise vapour condensation when pumping heavy vapour loads. Vacuumregulation is accomplished with an adjustable bleed valve.

    Any particles, water or condensed vapour that may have been ingested into the pump are purged whenit is shut off. The self-cleaning purge automatically turns on for 2 minutes after turning off the pump. Anexhaust separator catches any liquid or particles during the purge cycle.

    Self-Drying, Continuous-Cleaning Vacuum PumpsCorrosion resistant, diaphragm, oil-freeKNFs innovative Laboport Self Drying Diaphragm Vacuum Pumps are ideal for applications wheresaturated vapours are being evacuated. This usually causes liquids to collect in the pump, as encounteredwith vacuum ovens, rotary evaporators and gel dryers. Unless removed from the pump they increaseprocessing time and reduce efficiency and pump life. The Laboport Self Drying Pumps cycle every fewminutes, removing accumulated moisture instantly without disturbing the vacuum process.

    The unique self-drying process removes accumulated condensate from the pump and restores efficiencywhilst the pump is operating. During the cycle the drying system solenoid opens, permitting air to enterthe evacuated pump head. As a result of the increase in pressure in the pump head, the inlet valve of thefirst stage pump head closes, thus preserving the vacuum level within the evacuated chamber. Bycontrast, the outlet valve, and both valves of the second stage pump head, open automatically causingcondensation to be expelled at high speed. The solenoid valve closes again and the pump now evacuatesthe chamber at full capacity. The drying operation is precisely controlled by an adjustable electronic timer,and set as required.

    KNF Laboport pumps feature chemically resistant materials (e.g. PTFE, FFPM) in contact with the gasstream. There are no metal parts to corrode. KNFs moulded structural diaphragm and multiport designensure reliable vacuum performance.

    LVS Series, Laboratory Vacuum SystemsThe latest solutions for solvent handling in the laboratory, LVS units are based on the MPC range ofchemically resistant diaphragm pumps with solvent containment condensers. They are available with orwithout control. There are four control options available:

    None: The vacuum level is not controlled.

    Standard Valve: The vacuum pump operates continuously and the process vacuum level is controlledby a chemically resistant solenoid valve. Set points can be preset, altered during the process, ordetermined automatically using the boiling point finding facility.

    Multi-Channel Peristaltic Pump Heads There is a choice of three multi-channel pump heads which accept 4, 8 or 12 cassettes. The feed rate ofeach channel can be adjusted by using different tubing dimensions. Tubing is available in a variety ofmaterials and sizes and can be changed easily. Other features include 4 or 8 rollers for minimal pulsationand cassettes may be changed during operation. Cassettes must be ordered separately.

    C4 Multi-Channel Pump Head The C4 pump head has 8 rollers for low-pulsation and accepts 4 small cassettes. Cassettes may bepartially used and click easily into place.

    C8 Multi-Channel Pump Head This model has a 4-roller design and accepts 8 medium or 4 large cassettes. Medium and large sizecassettes may be used together. Cassettes may be partially used and click easily into place.

    C12 Multi-Channel Pump Head The C12 pump head has 8 rollers for low-pulsation and accepts 12 small cassettes. Cassettes may bepartially used and click easily into place. Built-in reduction gear allows feeding of smallest quantities.
