    PIECING

    Top

You will make 5 blocks total, each measuring 12.5 square, but there will be 3 different layouts. The pumpkins should

always be assembled first, log cabin style, and then youll build the rest of the block around it using your linen pieces. On

the next page are some diagrams and photos detailing the assembly.

The pumpkins are assembled log cabin style:

When you get to the two side-pieces with mitered corners, here is how you should proceed:

Lay one of your 1.5 x 2.5 pieces over the side piece and mark a diagonal line. Sew over the line, and trim off the

    excess.

Fold the linen back and press in place. Repeat on other end of side piece.

Attach the side piece to your log cabin block. Repeat steps for the other side of the block.

Once youve made all five blocks, lay them out in the correct order and sew together into one long row.

    Backing

Grab all 24 of your strips and using your design wall (or floor), play around with the arrangement until you have them

how youd like. Piece the strips together (along the long edge) using seams. (Note: It doesnt matter if the ends dont

match up perfectly, because youllhave a few inches of excess fabric on either side.)

Once youve prepared your backing, sandwich the layers quilt, and bind.
