Teacher Instructions:
Print on card stock and/or laminate the cards. (Card stock is recommended because some children will try to see through the cards.)
Game variations: Print 4 copies of the pictures page to make the game easier for non-readers.
Print 2 copies of both the pictures and the words for extra reading practice.
A page showing the pumpkin life cycle is included to help students remember what stage comes later. Cards are also marked with ordinal numbers.

Pumpkin Life Cycle
War!Divide cards evenly among two players.
Place cards face down in a stack
Players each turn over one card at the same time.
Player with the card furthest stage in the pumpkin life cycle takes both cards and adds them to the bottom of their pile.
For example: flower beats sprout, group of seeds beats pumpkin
In case of tie, each player lays down three cards face down and then turns the third card. Furthest stage wins all the cards.
Play continues as time allows or one player runs out of cards.
