• Monroe Doctrine– American threat to use force if European nations try

to colonize within the Western Hemisphere.

• Missouri Compromise– Preserved the balance of slave to free states by

setting the 36°,30’N line.

– Nationalism rises in the U.S. after the War of 1812.

• James Monroe became the 5th president and wanted to united the nation by: – Reestablished the national bank.

• Helped reduce inflation.

transportation.

• 3rd- You will read arguments written by congressmen for and against slavery.

• 4th- You will decide if the expansion of slavery is beneficial for America or if slavery should be banned. Present your beliefs using tagxedo.com.
