The check valve insert can then be pumped out leaving a full opening bore for pro- duction or stimulation operations. In addition, the check valve provides a ball seat, which allows a hydraulic packer to be set prior to pumpout. The pumpout check valve is avail- able in several versions to meet most operational requirements. Pumpout check valve The standard pumpout check valve is available in standard tool ODs. It is primarily used in conjunction with packers or other hydraulically actuated tools and is available with most com- mon threads. Slimline pumpout check valve The slimline pumpout check valve is frequently used as a stand-alone valve in coiled tubing hangoffs and recomple- tions. It is available in all coiled tubing sizes and wall thicknesses. The stan- dard connection for the slimline version is the roll-on connection. Wash nozzle Both versions of pumpout check valves can be furnished with a wash nozzle on the end of the pumpout cartridge to aid in washing operations during run-in. Operation The pumpout check valve is attached to the bottom of the coiled tubing. Prior to run-in, the pumpout pressure value is adjusted by varying the number and type of shear screws installed in the tool. At final depth, a ball is circulated to a seat on the check valve. Applied pump pressure creates the differential pres- sure required to shear the screws,which pumps the check valve cartridge out of the housing.
