Dear student,We want to give back to you that sense of belonging towards your University.

Pulse believes that students must remain at the centre of all the decision-making by the Council. That is why we want to offer the relevant support to the students’ initiatives and their organisations.

We are sure that you can help us tackle the relevant prioritiesaffecting your life as a student. Your participation can produce effective solutions to all these challenges.

Collaborate with the Ministry for Transport and Infrastructure on the plans to tackle the parking problem at University, and work on a free Smart Parking application.

Work on better WiFi access on campus, especiallyat Mater Dei Hospital lecture rooms, the Science Labs and at the Junior College.

Tackle the issue of compulsory attendance and consult studentson what alternative measures need to be taken for different courses,

in order to relieve students from excessive burdens.

Enhance campus life by organising and supporting more eventson Quad, the Tespi theatre and the University’s sports grounds.

Assemble the University organisations and the education representativesin a bi-annual conference to discuss the quality of education offered at the UoM.

Lobby for shorter deadlines for the publication of results during the negotiatingof the accademic staff collective agreement starting from 2014.

Campaign for the introduction of a five-minute reading timeof the exam paper before each exam session.

Discuss the possibility of having the UoM Library opening up on Sundaysduring the exam periods, especially for the benefit of international students.

Put pressure on the University authorities to give the students the opportunityto view their corrected paper when they opt for a revision of paper service.

Campaign for adjusted maintenance grants for students attending courseswith relatively higher expenses involved during their studies.

Facilitate the recruitment of members within student organisations by insistingon the allocation of ECTS credits for students’ work in student organisations.

Restart discussions with the University of Maltatowards the idea of extending Student House by another storey,

in order to create more office space for student organisations.

Create an online database with links to funding opportunitiesfor projects led by students within an organisation or on an individual basis.

Secure full support to the organisations on campusby implementing an Organisations Buddy System where different

organisations are assigned to the different KSU Executive members.

Launch training and recruitment workshops for student organisationswithin the European Commission’s Training Strategy of SALTO-Youth.

Increase the KSU’s fund for research, opportunities and resources to €15,000and give the opportunity to students to highlight the necessary materialneeded to be bought for the UoM Library.

Discuss with the Ministry of Education an extension to the time allottedfor Smart Card refunds.

Increase more lockers for students using the University Libraryand support the responsible student organisationsin having lockers accessible for students at Mater Dei Hospital.

Install security cameras in the main parking areasto ensure a more secure University environment.

Implement a Student Suggestion Scheme, where student ideas are thoroughly evaluated and rewarded, especially ones affecting their respective courses.

Increase the number of water fountains, mainly near the Faculty for the Built Environment, the Institute for Education and Sport and Junior College.

Top-up investment in Quadrangle and the area outside the Library to €10,000, and launch an artistic competition with the best ideas for murals at the University.

Install more indoor and outdoor electricity sockets, mainly at Quad, the Library, Canteen and other areas recommended by the students.

Open up Careers’ Convention to cater for a wider range of careers related to a larger number of courses, while seeking the assistance of both private and public entities.

Make recommendations regarding the sustainability of theUniversity’s finances, stipends and the necessary investment in research.

Install an appropriate system of waste separation binsfor actual recycling of waste on campus, promote a green conductand increase substantially the amount of bike shelters.

Conduct an assessment on the accessibility of University for disabled individuals and find a feasible solution to the lack of accessibility to Canteen and the KSU office.

Install synthetic turf at the College’s 5-A side ground.

Organise a Faculty Convention at Junior College to get studentsto familiarize themselves with University – their next step.

Start discussions on the introduction of European Studies at a post-secondary level, while consulting students and authorities regarding other subjects.

Work in order to make Smart Card refunds truly accessiblefor Junior College students from the College premises themselves.

Work hand in hand with Maltese MEPs so as to give more studentsthe opportunity to visit the European institutions in Brussels.

Propose the relevant changes to the ESN statute to includeinternational organisations in all the services offered to Erasmus students.

Launch campaigns related to international affairswith the support of different embassies.

Create a permanent multi-faith room with adequate equipment and facilities.INT

Support the Gozitan students’ representatives proposalin favour of a direct bus route from Cirkewwa to University.

Pressure the relevant education authorities in order to increasedrastically the number of exam sessions to be held in Gozo.

Sponsor the necessary investment for increased live conferencing of lecturesheld at the University of Malta for those students attending the Gozitan Campus.

Organise events in Gozo to attract more studentsto the sister island during different periods of the year.

Sponsor workshops by professional arts companies on dancing, actingand singing for those interested in participating in the Students’ Fest auditions.

Hold a Battle of the Bands on campus and award the winnerwith a recording of their winning single.

Hold a multicultural week involving traditional arts, debates and food tasting,in collaboration with international organisations and international students on campus.

Sustain the KSU Culture Fund and negotiate special incentivesfor students looking for venues to promote or rehearse their work.

Make the relevant proposals for the setting upof a Faculty of Sports at the University of Malta.

Team up with all University organisations to organise a National Fun Run,

with all its proceedings going to the Research, Innovation & Development Trust.

Install more first-aid kits and an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) on campus, and increase the number of students obtaining training in First-Aid.

Introduce a Discount Card scheme to be used at gyms

and commercial outlets offering sports and health services and products.
