This solid background allows the system to reachthe best performances in wavelength resolutionand long term stability.

“Pulsare” laser systems covers the wavelength range from 198nm to 4µm through harmonics generation and frequency mixing.

Linewidths from 0.1cm-1 to < 0.03cm-1 are available.

Last but not least, the “heavy” dyepump insure astable, low noise operation….

Genesis family: the new high-power OPSL

The Verdi G-Series

VERDI IR

Genesis is a unique portfolio of high-power cwlasers spanning from the visible to the UV spectrum– all based on OPSL technology. Genesis enablesa new set of applications by leveraging the wave-length scalability of OPSL. Together with theSapphire family, Coherent can offer solid-statesolutions for true cw applications in the UV andVIS range. Currently we offer up to 100mW at 355nmfor applications like flow cytometry, confocalmicroscopy, drug discovery or rapid prototyping. High-power multimode versions with up to 8W greenand 5W yellow are especially dedicated for OEMapplications in ophthalmology or for light shows. For scientific applications there is also a low-noise(>0.06%) 2W TEM00, green version available, optional for holography even with a SLM.

Coherent introduces the next generation of diode-pumped solid-state lasers – the new Verdi G-Series,currently made up of the Verdi G2, G5 and G7lasers. The Verdi product family has set the standardin optical pumping for over 10 years, and combinesVerdiʼs performance with Coherentʼs patentedoptically-pumped semiconductor (OPSL) technologyto create the most advanced series of pump lasers. The patented technology removes the rod-based

Ultrasonic applications in medicineMost of the applications in life science are basedon the inverse piezo effect: medical diagnostics(ultra sound imaging), ultrasound therapy, dentalplaque removal, scalpels for eye surgery(Glaucom treatment). New applications includemicro pumps, aerosol production, ultrasonopho-resis. Normally "hard" PZT elements formed asdiscs, rings or plates are used and we supply allkind of geometries and sizes.

Ultrasonic flow rate measurementA more complex application is the measurementof the flow rate of liquids or gases. The PZT ceramicis used as transmitter and receiver. We can offerthe simple ceramic discs or higher integrated sub-assemblies customized to your needs. It isimportant to start the collaboration for the development of such special components at thebeginning of the project as the electronic and thetransducer have to be designed together to get a good performance of the system.

Inside Dyneos Olivier Charpié,laser expert, installing andfixing systemssince more than30 years hasdecided to retire

at the end of 2008. Having started with the ionlasers where the tube was made of glass andcarbon and lasting for a few 100s of hours (nicetime for tubes suppliers!), he became so familiarwith these instruments that a university professortold us that Olivier knew all screws of the laserby its first name!He followed during his long and faithful activitythe trend of the laserʼs technology getting moreand more complex, but also more reliable, untilthe state of the art in the diode pumped solidstate lasers. Now Olivier decided to spend his time with hisfamily and also to fix his …model railroad wagons! Please join our company to thank Olivier for hisextraordinary constancy and fidelity and to wishhim a nice time in his new activities. Some of you had already been in contact withPetre… he is the guy who is going to challengeOlivierʼs history!

Dr. Petre Birza, Physicist, owning a PhD from theUniversity of Basel, did his post- doc in France. He had already a solid background in lasersbefore he joined Dyneos in August 2008 and followed several product trainings at our supplierʼsfacilities. Petreʼs “schwitzertütsch” is at this time"to be enhanced”. But you can talk to him inEnglish or French! Please join us welcoming Petre and wish him asuccessful start.

We are also glad to announce a new team member to increase our sales forces. RaffaelFavaretto studied Microengineering at the EPFL,where he obtained his Master degree in 2007.After gaining experience in the industry, he started into sales in the micropositioning domain. He started at Dyneos in June 2009 and will beyour new contact as a specialist for positioningapplication.
