I. ENVIRONMENTAL PROFILE
A. OFFICIAL Source: Municipal Hall of Pulilan – CLUP Department
1.1 Demographic, economic, social and cultural characteristics
1.1.1 LGU POPULATION
The results of the August 2007 Census of Population conducted by the
National Statistics Office show the population of Pulilan to be around 85,000
persons with 15,700 households (Table 2). This represents around 3.8
percent of Bulacan’s total population. This population level groups the
municipality along with other medium-populated LGUs in the province as may
be seen in Figure 2.4 below. It may be observed that most of these medium
populated municipalities can be found on the north and northeast side of the
Province while the higher populated municipalities and cities are adjacent to
Metropolitan Manila with the exception of Malolos.
1.1.2 AREA: PULILAN, BULACAN

1.1.3 LOCATION/GEOGRAPHICAL SETTINGS
The Municipality of Pulilan is found at the western side of Bulacan
Province abutting the municipality of Apalit in Pampanga Province. It is
considered part of the Pampanga Delta which is regularly flooded with water
coming from the Upper Pampanga River watershed. On the south, some 13
kilometers of Angat River separates it from the adjacent municipality of
Plaridel and Baliuag while the Municipality of Baliuag bounds it on the east
and northeast, by the municipality of Apalit in Pampanga on the north and by
the municipality of Calumpit on the west. It is some 47 kilometers northwest
of Quezon City, or 25 kilometers east of the City of San Fernando in
Pampanga.
1.1.4 PREDOMINANT ECONOMIC ACTIVITY OR MAJOR PRODUCTS
Based on Family incomes earned in 2005 by sector and sub-sector,
the economy of Pulilan contributes around 3.2 percent of provincial
economic output. It is dominated by service industries accounting for 68
percent of municipal output followed by agriculture, fishery and forestry at
25.4 percent. Pulilan’s Industry sector accounts for less than five percent of
municipal output and a little more than one percent of provincial industry
output. Considering that the Industry Sector has the potential to provide the
additional jobs needed by the increasing labor force, it is imperative that
conscious efforts be focused on attracting new industry investments into the
municipality.
